  1. They did that to us on 14 F250's for the axle lube recall.
  2. Well its 90% off. I printed out the instructions figuring that is the best way to do the first. Not so sure why we are instructed to remove the fuel cooler and reservoir. Looks to me like it clears with ease so for the moment, its still on the engine and I removed the coolant hoses instead. I loved disconnecting the lower hose and getting another gallon out of the system and all over the floor. Oh yeahhhhhh! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smhair.gif I heated up the body bolts and for the most part they came out smoothly, except one. Right front broke loose on me. I took the headlamp assembly out, lit the torch and welded the nut to the body. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif
  3. Its a 2008 with a code P0088, bucking on acceleration and lacks power. Off with the cab and out with the injection pump. Yay.
  4. I'm not condoning stealing anything. It looks like every injector I install has new electrical components including the harness and connector /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif so I doubt it matters too much.
  5. I haven't noticed anything new yet but I updated yesterday so I haven't had mush use of IDS since. Maybe 4 times including today. I might wait if I were you, yes.
  6. Thought we had seen the last of this but since updating my IDS to 51 I have been getting Testman errors requiring IDS o shut down. The IDS update also required me to update my computers .net software. Since then auto-update has installed several large updates... lets see if that helped. The only reason I am a little pissed is that everything has been working flawlessly until now.
  7. If you purchase an IDS and a software license that comes with two years (?) of updates it will be identical and full functional. That is, as long as you have an internet connection and a valid license.
  8. The official answer is: The 4C3Z-AB's are a communized part and work properly on all 6.0L engines including the VT-365 in the F650/750. The old 3C3Z-EA's will continue to show as the correct part until stock has been depleted... and will then disappear from all part listings.
  9. Larry I know that... My question is the discrepancy in that booklet that I referenced with a link. There is no mention of the 3C3Z-EA at all! Really! Look fer yourself! Makes you wonder whats going on. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  10. Hope your hairline does not retreat too much over the years. Thats gonna leave a mark! Looks like it hurt too. By the way, why were you propping the hood up? I have whacked my head on the grille a few times but man!
  11. I guess I am one of the few here. I have a Fluke PVT but I stopped using it years ago. I think its in pieces in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. Personally, I thought it was a pain in the ass because I was always screwing around with adapters. The gage bar, while probably not extremely accurate has never let me down AND I like the fact that I can check two or three things at once if needed. I am thinking of making a custom gage bar so that I can monitor two points for pressure and one for vacuum/inlet restriction.
  12. Good luck from me too! Hope it works out for you. I vote for "STD-LARRY" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cover.gif
  13. I know someone who installed the "new style" ICP sensor in a 2003 engine, on the HPOP. Truck runs fine but according to what I know and what my parts buddy tells me the sensor for 2003 engines is different and does not seem to supersede. More confusing yet, look on page 72 in this booklet ----> http://www.powerstrokediesel.com/documents/PSDmanual.pdf it lists 4C3Z-9F838-AB for all 6.0L engines... yet my part listing shows 3C3Z-9F838-EA for 2003 models. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Is this a misprint? A sign of pending obsolescence? Are the two interchangeable or will using the wrong one cause any driveability issues? Anyone? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
  14. Okay, but WHERE on that cylinder head do you see room for 7 or 8 more head bolts? With 16 valves, 4 push rods, 4 injectors, 4 glow plugs, mounts for the high pressure rail and the rockers to boot (despite sharing the head bolt as a mount). Perhaps the best option with the design would have been a little beefier head with head studs? Or are the studs alone enough?
  15. It seems as though everything I have read about head studs is that they solve the problem and it is extremely rare for the head gaskets to fail again. I know that I have not seen any truck get a second repair using OEM parts but I have heard of it. It is a shame that the only thing we have to fear is the red tape we could find ourselves wrapped in. Kind of ironic eh?
  16. This is a recollection question. Yesterday was Mr. Know-it-alls last day and I was waist deep in an EGR cooler in a school bus so I was not overseeing much else. He walks up to me and asked if I remembered the washer or shim or whatever. I vaguely recall some pulleys having a washer/spacer behind them, even the 6.0L's. The truck lost the pulley entirely while driving so whatever was there is now gone. The new pulley was rubbing the tensioner housing and did not line up with the tensioner pulley. He put something behind it to make it work and the truck rolled along. Now that I have time to think about this, how did the pulley get "lost" and was there damage to the bracket...
  17. Ahhh. The good ol heater rot job! Don't get to see many of those any more. When the PCM fuse is blown that is the first thing I look for.
  18. 8-GROOVE next to the tensioner.
  19. OOOOPS! Its 1996! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif
  20. 2006 0r 2007 7.3L FEAD belt, IDLER pulley... customer lost it and the SPACER that was behind it. Remember those? 1/4 or 5/16 thick? Anybody know if there is a part number for those? We cant find it anywhere!!!
  21. Well, the TSB has reappeared, unchanged and not superseded. Yet? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  22. You can buy an IDS but don't expect to get access to the Ford corporate sites. You can have access to publications, training and support and all of this is available on the Motorcraft web site motorcraft.com Follow the link to Technical Resources where you will find all of these goodies. A subscription is required and you will still have to pay for various things. These are the same materials you had available to you as a dealer tech. There is also a link Tools and Equipment page that gives you the ordering information for IDS. I know Bruce probably has some advice on this. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
  23. A guy in my shop won the toolbox when he went on the cruise. Nice box too!
  24. Oh shit! I forgot to drive the truck today!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rotz.gif I AM losing my mind!
  25. Maybe my BG supplier was right and they are about to launch a new tool or cleaner or procedure or... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/surprise.gif wanna bet there will be a new TSB very soon? Moo hoo hoo hoo ha! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif Did anyone have time to watch this today? Quote: Diesel Talk Live presents - 6.0L Diesel Technician Roundtable broadcast, Wednesday 9/26/07, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST Ch. 11/701 Host 11. We will provide technical information updates and solicit technician feedback on several subjects. Updates will be provided for TSB 06-21-2 (6.0L CoolantExpulsion TSB). There will be a 6.0L Fuel Injector Inductive Heat Reminder/Q&A discussion. North American Diesel engineering will also have a Q&A on 6.0L EGR Valves.
