I should see if the Chrysler site is screwed. It looks like they use the same portal. -
PTS Down Again

Absolutely destroyed my day. -
WTF!!! Was sporadic yesterday and not working at all today do far. I can't do anything without it right now.

Proper flushing procedures are outlined in TSB 08-23-1 AND it is important to flush with VC-9 Iron Cleaner.
-
LOL! Have you tried looking at the 2017 SLTS? Another joke.

There is the bulletin about DEF injector cleaning for the 6.7L. I would be interested in hearing success stories where this is applied and corrects a concern. It would be nice to also see an SCR efficiency test that can be run with IDS too. Cummins has it, why not Ford? G0000120.pdf

OIL SMELL LIGHT BLUE SMOKE COMING OUT OF EXHAUST
Keith Browning replied to CISCO's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Well if it's burning the oil in cylinder you wont see anything in the intake or turbo and as far as the turbos go you should disconnect the down pipe and look for oil at that location. With your short term fuel trim on #2 at 10 and 12 you need to be concerned. Either the injector has a problem or it is compensating for a base engine problem or both. Back when the 6.4L was "new" and we were looking at all kinds of failures one thing I saw a lot of was glazed cylinders. And one other thing, I have thought that the relative compression test on these engines does not always pick up base engine concerns. A manual compression test will. I would at least check bank 2 compression if all else fails. -
2018 F150 3.0L V-6 Power Stroke
Keith Browning replied to Keith Browning's topic in 3.0L Power Stroke ® Diesel Engines
People say they want it and Ford is late to the show already. My dealer also sell Dodge's and there have been a few diesels but not many. Of course, we sell about 10 F150's to every one Dodge. -

The repair action has not been released yet. I think its coming around 1/16

Another one rolled in today, 7000 miles, customer put 5 quarts in it... #5 spark plug burnt away and using oil.
-
2. I want Ford Motor Company to pick up on things like laminated steel fuel tanks going bad for example and not take ten+ years to accept the problem and make an effective change.
-
Looks to be in really good condition too!

Had another one of these yesterday annoying the crap out of a food customer with an intermittent check engine light. I agree that it was pointless. I don't think there are any 6.7L owners doing a CCV mod even with RGR and aftertreatment deletes.

We have a 2016 in the shop with a 2.7L that smokes and is low on oil. One of the cylinders on the left bank is oily. Hotline instructed us to put a long block in it. Just thought I would chime in with this - no idea what the cause is. Apparently there is something going on on that side of the engine if you read the self help reports on OASIS
-
Not exactly. If you have more change then you are starting to get blow-by. If my memory serves me right there is only one tube hooked to the valve cover. These engines do not have a positive crankcase ventilation system. Even the one Escape I had with crankcase vent codes didn't have that large of a difference between koeo and koer. This code and the crankcase connector sensor have nothing to do with pressure and the signal value should never vary. The sensor is an anti-tampering switch that indicates the ventilation hose is connected. Nothing more. The 3.7V reading is what the PCM wants to see to verify that the tube is connected. Any more or less indicates a disconnected tube, wiring concern or a faulty sensor. Since this engine does not have an actual filter as does the 6.7L Cummins in the medium duty trucks, there is no need for a crankcase pressure sensor. This is merely an oil separation system and crankcase vent on the 6.7L PSD.

Dana 80 pinion markings
Keith Browning replied to RyanG's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
I ran into the same markings on the last rear I did. I assumed ZERO and installed the same amount of shim that came off of the original pinion. The proof will show when you check your contact pattern. Mine was good, hope yours was too. -
Unless the fuel tank has to come out then the damn thing is full!

Anyone have problems getting the fuel filter cap back on? This is a 2015. I screwed with one today for, had to be 15 minutes, I cant figure out if the o-ring is simply too hard or the housing distorted. I lubed both the o-ring and the housing, made sure it was lined up but eventually I had to exert what I thought was excessive force to get that sucker to slide up into the housing. I also know that the part number for the assembly has changed but don't know if any changes have to do with this problem. Also did not see anything on OASIS.

2013 f550 stuck in idle only mode
Keith Browning replied to kridd12's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Cummins now has a SCR System test that runs and automatically validates the system operation and the SCR efficiency. Requires having Cummins INSITE diagnostics. I wish Ford would come up with something similar. You still need to perform diagnostics, test the DEF and perform a delivery test but the end of repair validation alone is worth the price of admission! -
My Test IDM and FICM are older and so far have worked on any truck I connected them to. As mentioned they might set erroneous codes and I believe my test FICM has a false code that always appears (which is why it was replaced) My 6.0L PCM is hit or miss. The thing with test modules is that I am usually looking for one specific thing like will the damn engine just start or a particular reading or self test result so minor inconsistencies or generated codes that are not related to what I need to know are unimportant.

They want me to do WHAT???????
Keith Browning replied to forddieseldoctor's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
With the secondary fuel filter, you will need to change over the oil cooler cover along with the items you mentioned. Pay attention to the intake manifold bolt locations and ensure that the studded one's are in the correct position. I think they are different and I have seen serious harness damage caused by misplaced studs on Econoline applications. Fuel supply lines, Remote Mounted Oil Filter housing and pipes and upper oil pan, EBP sensor tube. Good time for a new cooler. And on that note, perfect time to inspect/replace oil standpipes, STC fitting and the cam sensor mount for rust jacking... leaks of any kind... exhaust manifolds leaks and broken bolts. All super easy to fix with the engine out. Also make sure that the Econoline oil fill tube adapter will screw into the right valve cover and fix any issues with that before you install the engine. I don't know/think there are any mechanical differences or sensors between the two that might make a difference where engine calibration would be concerned. Depends on which high pressure oil pump the 2004 had, turbo, EGR cooler and VALVE. And then in the future, looking up base engine parts could be tricky. Just keep all that in mind. Maybe record the engine serial number of the engine that is going in to make life easier. -
That must be pretty new, I haven't seen that little shopping cart yet.

Ditto. By the way, does Leon get a prize?
