  1. Looks like a straight forward shift solenoid open circuit fault. I would simply follow the pinpoint tests in the WSM - should lead you to the problem. I am not aware of any common issues related to this DTC...
  2. Just got my power back!!!!!!! 12 days without it. This is the kinda stuff that makes you analyze everything you have going on in your life and what others are going through. We have some work to do to get things back to normal.
  3. Not from Ford as only the "current version" is available from the Rotunda website. If you want an older version you will have to locate the appropriate disk and at this point if you have anything newer installed and your VCM is current you might not be able to use version 75 as your VCM will require a subscription... which is no longer the way things are done.
  4. We also had an earthquake on Monday morning which made more noise than shake things up. Now it is snowing! WTF!!!
  5. Now wait a minute, there are many places, like where I live, that the polling stations are not crowded. This morning it tool me longer to walk in from the parking lot than it did to sign mu name twice, walk into the booth and push the buttons. I have yet to wait in all of my voting years. But I do know that there are places where there are huge lines. In those places an absentee or early mail in vote is encouraged. I personally like the feeling of walking into the booth and casting my vote in person. Anything else would be like having sex with a condom. It just ain't the same.
  6. Since the one-piece fitting was available in February of 2007, it makes sense that any FQR reman engine built after that time would have it installed.
  7. My fellow Americans... Today is a BIG DAY! Today we celebrate a right that Many have fought for, been injured, had lives changed for, and even died for!!! We are a free nation because of the blood, sweat and tears of the many who have served in our military. I give a passionate THANK YOU to everyone of you!! To show my respect I am going to exercise my right to vote for the candidate I feel most represents my core values and has my family and countries best interests in mind. Please pass this on - repost it... Get the word out!!! Even in our time of despair we have a duty to vote... Find time, find your place, MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
  8. I stood in line for an hour to get 5 gallons with my can and paid $4.16/gallon CASH ONLY. Rumors @ the fuel line have us with no power for about another week with a damaged sub-station. Now there's talk of a nor'easter this week
  9. If you want gas anywhere in the eastern 2/3 of the state there are lines miles long. Fuel deliveries are far and few at the moment... but there are a a lot of fuel stations with fuel sitting in the tanks with no power to pump it. Keeping a keen eye on those! Fortunately I have two full tanks in our cars but will need some eventually. There are pockets of sanity though. I was in a supermarket yesterday with plenty of food on the shelves and boxes of restock items in the isles.
  10. Mess is right! The entire Jersey coast is destroyed, the NJ Turnpike is totally shut down and Manhattan has no power either. Fortunately my Inlaws have power an lent us their generator which is big enough to run the fridge an the sump pump and charge our phones. I am getting a crash course in using a smart phone - this iPhone is amazing! Anyway, we came out of this okay so far. Many people lost everything, homes and businesses destroyed and deaths are being reported. We are hearing it may be one or two weeks before power is restored in my area.
  11. Shits getting pretty rough around here. The lights flicker constantly and there is a howling from the trees. Fortunately we haven't gotten too much rain up till now. Next few hours will be rough with the wind. Glad I am not more south of here!!!!
  12. Winds are picking up, the power flickered around 9:30 this morning with not much going on weather wise. I thought that was a bad sign. Still battening down the hatches! I keep finding things that need to be taken care of.
  13. Did you TRY supplying power and ground to all the necessary circuits?
  14. Fred, I feel your pain. I was watching my neighbor clean his gutters yesterday... he was back on the roof this morning when I came home from church and I made the mistake of looking up to my roof. I spent 4 hours cleaning all of my gutters that were 50% packed with leaves and all but one downspout were clogged. I hate being on the roof but considering the circumstances I am glad I had time and sufficiently good weather. Only problem was I pulled one downspout out of the gutter and it's not a quick fix. At least it flows now! Forgive me, I need to laugh a little.
  15. Oh goodie! I am in the "Hit the liquor stores" bubble. If I lose power my basement will get water. There ain't a generator, D-cell or candle on the shelves anywhere and haven't been for days. I have some stuff but if power goes out for an extended time I am screwed. time to start moving stupp off the floor downstairs... On the bright side there is a gentle breeze developing outside and I have plenty of vodka.
  16. For those of you who don't know, I live in New Jersey where hurricane Sandy is about to clobber a region that is not set up for or used to such a natural disaster. I am far enough west from the coast where things should not be too bad but we are being warned this storm is going to cause major problems. As long as the power stays on I should do okay. Wish us luck!
  17. Yep, I am reluctant to throw a module as well... and this truck is not fixed. I think it is weird that Ford put both an ECT and CHT sensors on this engine and completely ignores the ECT. There is no PID to use to compare the values. Now I have my infrared pickup out and the CHT is reading 20-25 hotter than my readings. My meter shows around 200 at idle on the head... CHT is reading about 228.
  18. Coil #5 stress test failed - sold the customer a new one and told him to re-evaluate.
  19. It's a 2001 F350 with a 6.8 V10 triggering a false over heating condition intermittently. I know we have discussed RFI type failures before and I might have a truck with such an issue however I am not coming up with anything. Here is my HotLine report and beyond that I have completed the Alternator Ripple test (good) and have stress tested about half of the 10 ignition coils so far without identifying any issues. I am curious if any of you fellas have come across a similar false CHT overheat condition like this and what you found. The PCED points to a PCM which I am always hesitant to replace without some positive reason. I thought perhaps an issue with the alternator might be inducing voltage on the CHT wiring that sits in very close proximity... but no evidence of that as of yet. I have a sick feeling that this customer will have to start throwing expensive parts at this truck to resolve this - I want to consider and test everything possible before having that discussion.
  20. Yes, but aren't you GOING BACK?!?!
