  1. That is the exact method I use, when replacing the right side up-pipe on 6.4s.
  2. GOOD TO KNOW!!! The vehicle used in the video is an Escape I see. I do recall replacing a couple of 2.5 Escape engines making that exact noise, now that I think of it.
  3. Do you have a video of this noise? What was the mileage on this vehicle? My understanding is the 2.0, 2.3 and 2.5 engines are all identical with varying bore/stroke dimensions. If I were to surmise on a possible cause, perhaps on the 2.5 clearance between cylinders could be an issue (due to being the largest bore version of the three engines)?
  4. Very interesting find. What vehicle is this? How did you manage to pinpoint this?
  5. Then pitch it. As I get older, I'm losing my patience with those kinds, who have problems that aren't the easiest to diagnose but don't want to pay to play.
  6. I too, have replaced a lot of three bolt starters with the two bolt unit. Just be careful how you install it. Believe it or not, you can install a two bolt starter in two different ways. Installing it incorrectly will result in the starter just spinning the drive gear (because it won't be at the correct distance to mesh with the flywheel ring gear).
  7. So how is he doing it? Removing the body, and then the transmission to access the rear cover, or is he pulling the engine with the body removed? For what it's worth I've only ever replaced TWO branch tubes on these engines way back when they were still well within warranty. It was then, that I'm sure most of us had caught on that they could be finessed to align properly to the HPOP if they were bent slightly. All I know is, I'm so glad most of these vans are disappearing very quickly.....
  8. I've done all three that you've listed. E-Series, as Keith already mentioned is actually easier than an F-Series save for the cab to frame fasteners that require use of the flame wrench to persuade loose. Excursion to me, is no different than a Super Duty, save for some extra cab fasteners and a fuel filler neck to contend with, no biggie. An F-150 is about the easiest cab lift ever of all of them.
  9. I will look for and post whatever photos I have in my archive.
  10. 1/2" impact gun on top, and assistant on the bottom heating up the nuts with a flame wrench.
  11. I don't know. On every 6.0 I've worked on, I always get a lot of oil coming out of the inlet port as soon as the HPOP is removed.
  12. Okay, I and another tech in the shop got our claim kicked back due to someone in the warranty department at FoMoCo is claiming that the vehicles we're working on is "not equipped with a Ti-VCT engine". Okay, the claims in question both pertain to 2013 MKZ AWDs, both of which are equipped with the 3.7L V6 engines (the exclusive engine choice for MKZ AWD models). Both of us closed out our ROs using labour op 15S14C for 1.7 and rightfully so. Some fucktard is claiming that both these vehicles are not equipped with Ti-VCT engines because the OASIS report doesn't show that acronym on the end of the engine spec, only 3.7L V6. Really??? Who the fuck do they have working there, making these decisions? My warranty administrator is in the process of appealing these decisions obviously, but I am definitely toying with the idea of stirring the pot on the message board to rip someone a new one, pending the outcome of the appeal. What say you fine gentlemen to this joke?
  13. Okay, that's very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a graph like that in all the years I've worked on these trucks.
  14. My sales manager came to me today, to give me the VIN for my new truck forthcoming. It is 1FT7W2BT3GEA54406. Any one of you ever seen what the OASIS looks like on a vehicle not even built yet?!!! He even told me there's a way of tracking its build progress online. Hmmmm, never been through this before so if any one of you can enlighten me, I'm all ears.
  15. Fred, I'll do you even better and tell them to "Get these fuckin' pieces of shit outta here and don't let the door hit you on the way out!!!". It's not even worth wasting the time you took writing the paragraphs in the post you just wrote, let alone the time you're going to waste even looking at these vehicles that don't belong anywhere else other than the crusher.
  16. Exactly what I had a couple years back. That's got to suck, doing a warranty fuel system replace.
  17. 2016 F-250 CCSB 4x4 6.7 with 20s. Now, I'm without wheels for eight weeks. or longer.
  18. Got my order put in last night. Buddy texted me this morning asking me when he can take my truck off my hands.
  19. I can't believe I'm doing this, and I hope I don't regret it. I got offered $17Gs for my truck..........and I accepted.
  20. In those situations, I ask my two veteran service advisors "Is the car safe to bring out front?" to avoid those types of unpleasant situations throwing them under the bus having to explain to the customer this thing called "flat rate".
  21. Those, should not have made it past the service advisor and cashier if they were doing their job. If I'm standing around with my hands in my pocket, that's another story.
