  1. I have no experience with this engine either, but it almost sounds like a textbook FICM failure on a 6.0. As in IDM failure. Do you have a spare 'tester' you can plug in to verify this? Or the better question would be if it is plug and play.
  2. Om '08 and older models, yes. On '09 and up E-Series with the newer style cluster no.
  3. I ALWAYS remove the injectors when removing cylinder heads. I've read too many "truck lacks power since head gasket replacement" threads to chance having that happen.
  4. Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought 12 hours was WAY light for that job. When quoting any retail work, my motto is "go high and possibly lose the job, or go low and lose your shirt". Which of the two would you rather lose?
  5. It's been a LOOOOOONNNNNG time since I've been under the hood of one of these........... and I don't miss it one bit.
  6. Agreed and there seems to be a consensus on this as there should be. Any time you see a "system wide" condition that affects the injector, like fuel contamination or low fuel pressure, it means that the entire set of injectors was exposed to the condition. Just because one or two are acting up, the remaining injectors will have a high probability of failure as well if left behind. This is not good for customer satisfaction or your reputation. While they cost a lot to replace the entire set, doing so in multiple repair attempts will be even costlier. ..... and hence why my first reply to this thread for those of you wondering, or thinking if I'm just trying to play "parts tosser".
  7. My point exactly. Nip this issue in the bud by doing all eight, and remind him he should be thankful he's driving a 6.0 truck and not a 6.4 or 6.7 truck, because the hit would've been far more expensive if that had been the case.
  8. You should be recommending replacement of ALL EIGHT INJECTORS in this particular scenario. END OF DISCUSSION.
  9. That's exactly how I've been doing them for years. All it requires is finesse with the fingers, as well as washing your hands prior to handling so as to minimize the likelihood of having the dropsies.

  11. It appears I have my very first 6.7 base engine issue that has landed on my doorstep. I was going to try and move it, when all of a sudden, all I heard was BANG!!! Along with some metal parts scattered on the ground in our parking lot. Now the engine is completely locked up. Anyone have any detailed cab lift instructions on one of these, they'd care to share?
  12. Another temperature sender? New doesn't mean good. I'll assume you have verfied actual engine temp via an alternate method of course.
  13. For what it's worth, any time you "open up" the high pressure oil system on one of these engines, it takes getting it up to operating temperature and driving it a few miles before the long engine crank diminishes when the high pressure oil system completely primes back up.
  14. This may be a stupid question, but how long have you let the engine run since all this work? Have you run it up to 3800 RPMs for about 5 five minutes (to prime the HPO system) and let the engine reach operating temperature? Doing this should alleviate the extended engine cranking required for subsequent engine restarts. EDIT: Ether is never a good chemical to use. I've seen my share of casualties from using as such in my time. If you MUST use a "temporary alternative fuel source", brake parts cleaner is less volatile. An engine runaway is not a pretty sight either.
  15. Any update on this? I got a '14 now with 29000 kms. on the clock with this fault by itself? I have an NOx 1_2 on order.
  16. Please, pictures and part numbers would help a lot. I need something to bring to that table to my managers and fast. Just the whole thought of this is giving me a headache.
  17. Okay guys, I have an extremely unusual request that has been dumped on my lap. It appears our Fleet Sales manager has sold a fleet of six 2015 F-450 Cab and Chassis to a company that needs to upfit these trucks for a specific purpose that does not permit the use of the after axle fuel tank. That said, I have been asked to look into converting all six of these trucks to a midship tank application, so that they can be delivered and upfitted to be put into service. We all know that it's not going to be a simple case of just dropping the factory tank, and installing a midship tank and life is good. I don't think anyone in management (Service and Sales) even begins to appreciate the amount of parts that are going to be involved in such a conversion. To expedite the process, I asked the fleet manager to locate another such vehicle in the database that exists, ordered to exactly the same specs as our six we now have, with the exception that it is equipped with a midship tank. He has provided me with the VIN of one of our six trucks. It is 1FD0X4GT8FEC06046. So, as far as I know, this truck is a 2015 F-450 6.7L Diesel 4x2 Super Cab with a 162" Wheelbase. The other VIN I was provided with, apparently is also a truck identical to the one mentioned above, but equipped with a midship tank as desired. And the VIN for this truck is 1FD0X4GT1FEB17810. To be quite honest, I don't think I've ever seen a Cab and Chassis truck equipped with only a midship tank (I've seen dual fuel tanks), let alone done a conversion like this. In looking at it, it appears the DEF tank is located on the driver side of the frame where the midship tank would be located. So this obviously means either the DEF is completely different or relocated, but I have since put both VINs in HvBOM and have come up with the following so far: MIDSHIP TANK TRUCK: Frame Harness FC3Z-14405-H Tank BC3Z-9002-F Fuel Lines BC3Z-9S278-ES DEF Line BC3Z-5J249-Y AFT AXLE TANK TRUCK: Frame Harness FC3Z-14405-X Tank CC3Z-9002-B Fuel Lines BC3Z-9S278-ET DEF Line BC3Z-5J249-P I can`t seem to find a listing for the DEF Tank and Pump assemblies for the two trucks. Nor can I come up with the proper tank straps and all the fastening hardware. Please, if any of you guys can come up with more differences in part numbers of have such a truck on your lot, I would appreciate some detailed pictures of the tank and lines and anything that may be relelvant to such a swap. I already have a pretty good idea that the cost factor for this mess is going to be astronomical, speaking of which, how much should I charge these guys for labour to do this? Thanks.
  18. My main point is, what in the hell is the purpose? I use to do web courses (when needed), run vehicles through OASIS and other resources like every other employee. Is this their way of trying to play "macho man" by telling me that I will get a spanking if I somehow misuse it (however that may be possible)? FUCK THEM!!!
