Man canada sucks I understand the smoking in public places, hell I even dispise guys smoking in our work trucks against company policy but to have a cop pull you over for seeing you smoke in a vehicle is a little rediculous if you ask me. I would think they would have better things to do then police smoking habits

that is alot of work to turn off a water in fuel light. Hope you actually do not have any contaminated fuel otherwise all those fancy parts wont do much when it wont run. I had one of our guys ignore the water in fuel warnings....end result was engine replacement. Just something to think about

I find this true with alot of the larger truck shops out there. I give them instructions to call me for authorization before any work is done and yet the only call I get is to come pick it up with the bill. Big mistake on their part because without authorization from me the bill does not get paid. I had a freightliner dealer pull that crap with me and they ended up out $9k for throwing a bunch of parts at the truck trying to fix it. Im sorry but when is it the customers responsibility for a dealer to pay for your shop techs stupidity?? Some of these places think they can get away with anything because we just need our truck back on the road no matter what the cost. I thought the ford, chevy, dodge dealers where bad enough but they are saints compared to the large truck market.....

Keith, I have run into this issue several times with our company. We buy the truck from a body builder in Iowa and someone down the line at the body builder forgets to fill out the paperwork showing when the truck was actually purchased and delivered. The last one I did was a international with a cummins engine. It had a SCR failure and the international dealer wanted $6000 to fix it. I questioned the warrenty start date as I knew when the truck was delivered to us. Its a $300,000 truck so I know we didnt park it in the yard for 6 months before using it. Because the body builder did not submit the paperwork to cummins showing the completion date we got stuck with the date of sale being about 3 months piror to us taking delivery. I needed to gather all the paperwork showing when the truck was built and submit it to the international dealer which made a call to cummins to correct the date which had no issues doing so once we proved delivery date.

Any body use "Ultra Violet premium wash and wax"?
DieselD replied to vloney's topic in Fuels - Oils - Additives - Chemicals
"detail guy has had several so far" I would say this is a clue that that shit is the cause -
I have had the 6.0 loose block ground cook off the ground strap and melt through the heater boxes as well. Also I have had loose battery cables cause some wierd shit. One that kicked my ass for a long time was a F750 with a 6.0. It had the symtoms of a dead ficm(no injector pre cycle etc) I replaced it and it fired right up. During my roadtest it left me stranded but after I had it towed back to the shop it was ok again. I couldnt duplicate it for several days. Long story short I could unbolt the ficm and move it around to get it to start, even got sparking between the module and engine brackets. This happened with both old and new ficm so it couldnt be a internal issue with the module. I took a break from it for a day and came back with a fresh head and started over. Ended up having a loose ground cable at the batterys which I missed. tighted it up and all was well. This was the truck and yes this is how I had to work on it. I pulled the hood off it at one point to do coolers but it was a giant pain in the ass. I ended up working around it during my ficm fiasco.

12-11-11 18.3 hours.........c'mon!
DieselD replied to vloney's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
you and me both! It was really discouraging to get short changed time and time again and still trying to keep your quality repair values -
Cant help but think another great engine in another not so great truck....well if you can even call it a truck.....a Titan? really? Those things are piles and I would expect that cummins motor to tear that poor tin can up quickly. wonder if the small powerstroke slated for the transit will end up in a 150?

6.7L High Pressure Fuel System "Kit" Now Available
DieselD replied to mchan68's topic in FSA - TSB - SSM
That makes life a little easier vs ordering everything seperate. Just goes to show you this must be a very common concern for ford to put together a "kit" -
yes gasser and yes less likely to idle all day however during a engine replacement it would be very nice to be able to reset it for obvious reasons. I did not try this particular vehicle as I didnt want to reset it but have no doubt it would do the job if I chose to do so

....because a headlight switch is THAT expensive!!

'09 E450 Injectors, Intake, Glow Plugs
DieselD replied to Glen McDonald's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Worked on my share of these things in the past. Like keith said you are going to be better off just removing the compenents in the way for access. Motor removal is pretty extensive on those turds -
This used to happen to me alot then somehow I got the premission to set my own class schedule as well as others in my dealer. I beleive it was a mistake when someone set up my stars account. I wasnt going to tell anyone I had the access to set my own class schedule so they could take it away. It made life 10times easier then trying to beg and pled people to sign me up for a class. Now being outside the dealer I have full premission to do anything in stars but thats a whole different animal

You need to come back here and post pictures of what your working on. Trains or should I say the locomotive have always facinated me on how they operate and would enjoy seeing the inner workings of one. Best of luck with the job change bud

Missing 6.0L Turbo Bolts
DieselD replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Noticed that a while back. Good thing I have a good stash of them as they are very helpful with all kinds of stuff -
anyone taken the classroom for this yet? I finally scheduled in for one in sept and of course it falls on a weds-fri which I was planning to leave for a extended weekend friday morning. Guess I get to push that back as I dont want to take a chance missing this class as I have been on the waitlist for about 6 months. It will be my first time back to the training center as a non dealer employee so we will see how that flys

check this out never seen before
DieselD replied to scott1984's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have had this happen a couple times and it was caused by washed out cylinders from coolant entering the engine from the blown egr cooler. I wanna say I cranked the crap out of it and got it to fire, at the time it was one of those "hotline advise" deals -
I wish that was a easier way to run IDS and PTS on a mac as that would be my preference. I really really dislike windows and the constant issues everytime something gets uprgraded or changed.

I remember those days as a asset student, always got stuck with the shit nobody wanted to do. That kid better relize its his time suck it up and get after it if he wants to make it in this business. I always laughed at the kids not wanting to do a partiular shit job as they obviously have no idea what its like to start at the bottom. The worse are the UTI students......
