  1. Well, it was just a matter of time before this happened... Seems that one of our local "high-volume" dealerships is opening the doors to their sales department on Sundays... I can just see it now... somebody comes in to kick tires on a Sunday, and decides, "hey, maybe I should get an oil change while I'm here"... or but wait, parts and service are closed... sales people start to tell the management on Monday morning (since they obviously won't be there on Sunday) about "all" the people looking for service on Sunday... so then they decide maybe we should have somebody on for oil changes on Sunday... next thing there was some opportunity for up-sell, but the lube-jockey was not capable of doing anything other than lubes... so maybe a tech should be there on Sunday as well... and so on, and so on... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif So, should I be worried, or am I just crazy? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif
  2. How too make my baby billow black sunshine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, Im new to the forum and didnt want to bother anyone by asking a question but i could find any previous posts about how to get my 06 6.0 to billow out black smoke. What kind of upgrades can i do to get this? Im 20 and this is my first of hopfully many diesel trucks; so im new to the engine upgrades and would greatly appreciate any help. Im kind of on a budget because construction is so slow but would love to hear any suggestions of what i should or can do to achive the smoke. Thanks again
  3. Thanks... I figured it would be a reflash... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif
  4. We can't get information on this yet, as it is possibly "lost in translation"... can one of my friends south of the border fill me in on the details of TSB 08-17-01?? Merci beaucoup!
  5. I'm having a hard time believing all of that story... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif

    6.0L heads

Looking at the part numbers, I'd suspect the one ending in "RM" is a reman, and the other is possibly brand new.
  7. Ahh... the extended diesel warranty... we don't sell it, and anyone that comes in with it is directed right back where they bought it... they don't get to pass go, they don't get to collect $200. We figure if it were an out-of-towner it will be handled different, but that scenario has not come up (yet).
  8. I wouldn't loctite them... they can be pretty stubborn to remove at times as the recess is not as deep as other fastners and are prone to stripping... IMO anyway...
  9. They're not tamper-proof. They are just regular T-20 screws. I find using the TFI module ratchet wrench works like a charm!
  10. I believe that's why they want you to remove the UVC harness from the vehicle before installing the wedge... I don't know about you guys, but I sure do (and by "do", I mean "don't") /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
  11. Every now and then, when I've had a few too many... I flip around TDS, just to see how f'd up the general public can be... I really don't spend much (if any) time there...
  12. Perhaps we should have a forum dedicated to the things we read on those "public" forums... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got to Engine City Tech, a diesel tech school , and in class we were talking about brakes and stuff. Then my instructor said that if you have left over brake fluid but only from a freshly open bottle, you can put it in your diesel tank. I callEd him crazy. Ive never heard of that. He said since the brake fluid absorbs moisture, it' ll act like a water seperator. I dont know, what do you guys think about it? I dont know if I should give it a whirl. __________________
  13. And how does replacing head-gaskets without removing the cab automatically mean we will be "resorting to hackery"?
  14. I have nooooooooooooooo intention of working this hard at 50... if infact doing this at all...
  15. Different strokes for different folks I see... I don't remove the cab to replace headgaskets, and still do them in under a day. I'm sure it's harder on the back to do it cab on, but still don't find cab removal necessary.
  16. I've broken the odd one... and I hardly consider myself a "hack".
  17. I believe one of the many calibration updates we've had in the past had strategy to cause the engine to stall immediately after starting if the inertia switch was open. I don't think I would be concerned about the injectors.
  18. And we're the ones that don't know what we're talking about... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
  19. The other thing is, if every single operating strategy of this engine were to be published, I'd hate to see the size of the book!
  20. You know what, Aaron... I've been stuck in the same arguement on a public forum about the exact same thing. Unfortunately, it was put on me to prove that the EGR system DOES just that, not on my opponent to prove that it DOESN'T do it. I was told this is a strategy by our service school diesel guru, and have no reason to not believe him. Remember, we are fighting a losing battle against those who don't know chit, but still, are always right... as far as they are concerned.
  21. From what I was told, it (obviously) works better to have both. Problem is, too many people complained about the post buzz on pick-ups and vans, they got rid of it. You must have seen/read all the complaints about it on those 'public forums'.
  22. I believe LCFs, F-650s and F-750s have both post buzz and inductive heating.
  23. I've been eyeing up a WVO system for my Jetta for the past year or so, but couldn't justify spending $1000 on one. And back then, waste oil was being given away... I do have a friend that owns a restaurant, and was told the same that he had to pay to have it taken away, and would give it to me for free... I guess that'll change too soon...
