  1. A smartphone with a good camera is becoming a must these days in the trade.
  2. thanks, I am going to give another try this weekend
  3. I am trying to get my wireless up and running, but when I go to to wirless configuration it fails to connect the vcm at the the part when it want the card install into the vcm. I was just wounding if anyone has any tips as I suck at computer shit and don't know where to go with this.
  4. Is that Zerex coolant cheaper? Ford Gold is like $32 for a jug.
  5. I have a 97 7.3 that smoked black then stalled out. They are from out of town and the trucks passenger side bank has both melted pistons and cracked pistons. I have not inspected the drivers side but compression was good around 380 psi. I can't get the full story but this is a reman engine that has blown up a couple of times before. They tell me that they have had the passenger side head replaced already. I have inspected the injectors and did not find any cracked tips, I did find one injector had the upper o-ring with some damage. I have checked the fuel and it looks clear and free of water. What would cause just one bank to go down like this? Could the truck have had a leaking injector raising the oil level causing the engine to run on unmetered fuel ? Have you seen this before on the 7.3? any advice?
  6. So Jim when you guys get 6.4's with p0088, do you drop and flush the tanks and lines as well when doing the tsb ?
  7. Your guess is as good as mine. After I got it running I found nothing wrong. Clean fuel, clean filters and no other codes. Road tested over 40 kms.
  8. I had one hpfp blow up with no sign of water. One of the bolt heads ended up under the crank. Got it out with a magnet.
  9. Does this truck have a bigger down pipe? Maybe it's hitting something on the back off the cab. Check to see if that engine lift bracket is on the back of the right head. Just thinking out loud
  10. I just checked today on the fsa and it looks like there is going to be a recall on the 6.7 cooling systems. At this time there was no other info we will have to wait and see.
  11. Well, that job was not all that bad. The hardest part was welding a nut on the broken stud. I am just not that good with the mig welder. Need more practice
  12. I have one with broken bolts and a bad leak. This is my first leaking manifold on a 6.4 and it is customer pay. I have read that it is a pain in the ass and that some people lift cabs to do this. Do you have to lift the cab or can it be done through the wheel well. Just wondering what you guys have been doing.
  13. Sounds like the fuel tank truck driver might be a future Darwin award winner.
  14. Just had one today. 2008 6.4 check engine light on and code p2610. Thanks for the tip Brad!
  15. I too have had a couple with a fuel filters not installed all the way causing air to get into the system.
  16. So It has some kind of aftermarket intake elbow? Do they still have the egr throttle plate on the truck? If it does try unplugging the egr throttle sensor and running the truck maybe that thing is acting up.
  17. Cool ! thanks for the info guys. Hi Bruce, hope all is well.
  18. I am installing a stripped long block on a f-350 7.3 idi turbo . It looks like the only way to make sure the pump gear is timed to the cam gear is to remove the timing cover. I just wanted to know if this is necessary or is there another way to set the pump and cam gear marks?
  19. All the ones that I have run into got fixed by re sealing the block plate and rear main seal. I don't know how other guys do this job but I take the oil pan off like the wsm states.
  20. I would start by checking the down pipe for oil residue and then checking turbos end play. Maybe even start looking at base engine stuff too.
