  1. thanks, I will have a look at it in the a.m. , would they just have welded it up and not replaced the egr cooler thinking they stopped it from leaking? but know the weld let go and it is leaking agine? I not sure I get why people are doing this, is it going to stop it from leaking into the exhaust or stop coking
  2. ya,it is welded on the y-pipe part, and the welds did not look that good, and how did you know it just got head studs put in?
  3. I am working on a truck that came in for coolant loss,2004 late build, truck will not not start, coolant in the cyclinders, pull the glow plugs and crank it over coolant comes out the right bank, egr cooler leaking right?,so befor I replaced it I check oasis and found that another dealer just put one in about 6000km ago but no oil cooler,so now I am replaced the egr cooler and oil cooler but when i removed the egr cooler I looked at the inlet for the egr cooler and it is welded shut,so I called the other dealer to see if they know about it and the did, they told me they are just experimenting,I do not know what is going on at that dealership but I am second guessing my self now,the egr cooler was wet at the back of the cooler but how is the coolant getting in the cyclinders if that pipe is welded shut? not too sure what to think about this one? what do you guys think?
  4. just had one like you did, take a look at my photos there is a cam sensor that got hit by the cam pin,I put a shortblock into it and was under cost cap so I did not have to get approval for it
  5. don't do it the way the book would have you do it,order one clamp and one bolt because it does not come with a bolt in the clamp kit, half of the time it takes you to do the job is spent trying to get the braket and the thermostat hosuing out,I have a hard time getting the themostat housing out and in
  6. thanks,I see what I missed now,I was looking at the reman time + rnr
  7. just wondering what you guys come up with for a labour time for a short block in a 2004 f-350,they are paying me 17.9 hours, what labour codes can I use to get more out of this job?
  8. I had one that was a bad valve seat on #5,lower compression, did a leak down test and got air out the exhaust, but if the injector or injectors are leaking could have a bent rod, your start up noise could be the timming chain tensioners,I think the phasers are locked till it it hits a set oil temp?
  9. I like that alot, I as well will hang that up at work
  10. about time, when did the price of the sensor hit the floor, up in canada we do not have full details, what are you to inspect
  11. just had one today, truck did not want to heat up and coolant and oil are sitting at 150, its droping down to about -25 at night now,I think ther will be more to come
  12. the other diesel tech has one doing the same thing, long crank on a 03,same thing we did not think it was that bad,but he had codes for the cam sensor so he went to pull it out to try a new one,he could not get it out and it broke off in the block, you can move it back and fourth but it is like the head is mushroomed,so the cam pin can slide out? if so that suck's
  13. why didn't they make the mounts for the new super duty like the new f-150? would have been sweet if they did,do you guys get in shit for lifting cabs on"forbidden units" I like that forbidden units
  14. we got a 4x torque multiplier from a truck shop,we did not have a holding tool so I made one out of a part of a broken leaf spring, I looked one up on snap on and there only around $500 that's not too bad?
  15. how do you do that job in 1 hour,do you guys take the turbo off? or can you keep it on and just take off that part from the oil cooler?
  16. working on a f-550,puting in a new rear end and I had to swap the pinion yokes, what do you guys use the hold the yoke so that you can torque it to the 832 ft/pound that it wants?
  17. in Canada last year they gave us power stroke jackets, same thing it took about 3 months to get the jacket
  18. this weak I had a 2001 7.3 with a bad glow plug that did not want to come out,a 1999 e450 with 750 000 km engine job and then alot of oil and filters and inspections, alot of trucks came in for winter maint. but they give that stuff to anyone
  19. why did they make a new tsb, they should have just kept it in the overflow tsb 07-21-5, everone is different some take along time to flush and some don't take as long, maybe they have a new and improved vc1 that is now fast acting and will eat the oil sludge away, just kidding, does anyone use that stuff?
  20. thanks for the info,I am doing what Jim said,I will set a time and then go for the head, what can you do,thanks again
  21. we have only 4 truck with higher km,but they say better fuel econmy and better power,if I had the money and a good reason to, I think a would buy one
  22. got the thing loose, will not pull thru, removed the injector and used a borescope, droped the plug in the cylinder, used a magnet and I can get a hold of it just can't pull it thru the hole,if I removed the injector cup would that give me more room?
  23. it is a 2001 7.3 and it broke like a 5.4 3v spark plug, do you guys have any tricks to get broken glow plugs out without taking the head off,I tried vise grips and a slide hammer on the little bit that is sticking out,it is on #5 I am letting it soak in juice overnight but I think that I will just have to take the head off
