  1. We have an 2002 f-350 7.3 that will lose oil to the point that it will stall out. It has external leaks but I can't see it losing that much oil in around 1200 kms. The tech that had it befor said that it was very low on oil so he did an oil change so I know it at least was full of oil befor it left here last time. I checked the charge pipes and found a normal amount of oil. We checked the fuel filter and its not black but nether is the oil, dye was added to the oil and it looks like there is dye in the fuel. We pulled the fuel injectors out and inspected the O-rings and did not find anything obvious. We used that injector vacuum test tool and they all hold 25 inch's. I would have to think that the one of fuel injectors are the cause I just want to be able to proof it to. Does anyone else have any advice on the best way to test.
  2. I have not heard of anyone in our shop coming across this problem, did you end up finding anything ?
  3. I have done both ways and I find taking the front apart the best for me. When it comes to engine work on these things gas or diesel I do not fear them as much anymore.
  4. I had a 2006 f-450 that had severely plugged fuel filters that would throw off icp at wot. The same truck also had high pressure oil leaks hot, I had fixed the no start hot but still had a lack off power top end. Maybe look at the fuel filters and check fuel pressure but you have probably done already.
  5. I had a truck that would set p0304 ran rough cold but would be fine hot, would show low in power balance and pass a relative compression test. I performed a manual compression test and found #4 was 45 psi different from the others. Took the engine apart and found a bent rod on #4. The truck had also had an injector replaced on a different cylinder a couple of months previous and they did not performed an injector IQA. The point of this story is that relative compression is not as accurate on the 6.7 as they where on the 6.0/6.4 just wanted to add to this post.
  6. Got a hurt 2017 transit 3.2, #3 has a dead miss joined_video_42eb93e0d1684ee4b1f88a541baaae51.m4v
  7. Found what looks like some aluminum debris that must have fell in between the head and the gasket when they put the engine together from new. Damaged the head surface so its getting one head for sure, I have a video but its on my phone. If I can find the time I will try and upload it.
  8. I have a customer that needs up fitter switches in the 2019 super duty. I see that you can no longer can add that function after the fact with ford parts. I would like to use some kind of box like this one but can't get it in Canada fast enough. What other options have you guys found for this, customer wants to run a transfer pump and 3 lights. 4 SPST ON/OFF 40A Switch Box | ACCEPSSWH0081
  9. Thanks for the reply's, will be tearing down the engine this week and will post what I find.
  10. I got a 2018 f-350 6.7 with losing coolant 60 000km. Customer has come by 3 times to have coolant top up about 6 litres each time, good customer who takes care of his trucks.I have checked for external leaks and found none, oil level is not over full, trans oil looks red and is not over full, have pressure test with it running and found the cooling system holds a vacuum. Road tested with a pressure gauge and found when the truck is hot cooling system pressure spikes to around 25 psi, my gauge did go any higher so it may spike even higher. Took the egr cooler off today and pressure tested it, does not look clean from coolant and its holding pressure with the test gauge installed. Anyone out there run into anything like this ? Last thing I am going to do befor taking the heads off is pressure test it over night and check the glow plug holes for coolant, any input is appreciated.
  11. Today I have a 2015 transit 3.2 for a vacuum pump. Pump is locked up and leaking oil out the back. Just to note the vacuum pump does not come with a gaskets, guess who's waiting now to get the seal over night shipped
  12. I have not been to ford school in a long time so I miss out on a lot of the rumours, one of the kids in my shop just came back from a class and he told me that the rumour is that ford will be putting cummins diesel in the super duty in 2021. It sounds like bs but just wondering if anyone else has heard anything like this.
  13. I got this lisle set after getting beat up by a hard manifold job and true to form I have had to use it yet. Same thing happened when I bought my 7.3 cup tool, bought it over ten years ago and used it 2 times. Lisle did make a good 5.4 3v tool and at around $100 Canadian it worth a shot. I will update this when I get a chance to use it.
  14. DTS is by far the best site, there is none of the bull shit that there is on social media.
  15. So the job is done, man I had a hard time getting the vee clamp done up and the bolt for the cooler tube on the back the engine bracket. Other then that I would like to thank you guys on DTS for contributing in a positive and helpful manner, too many other forms are just full of negative people putting other people down and not helping anyone. I replaced the egr cooler for an exhaust leak, failed weld ! truck has 19 000 kms.
  16. I have one coming in for an egr cooler today, I have never done one yet so the trick is just to lower the engine down? and the intake manifold does not have to come off at all to do this job ?
  17. Update I assembly the head and put air in cylinder #4 and found air good amount leaking from the intake valves and some out the bottom side of the piston. The insurance company did not want to chance it so they are putting in a long block with fuel system. Now just waiting for parts as most of them are back ordered with no promise date.
  18. Have not replaced the fuel system yet, I normally do a relative compression test befor I install a fuel system just in case there is base engine damage.
  19. I have a 2017 f-250 6.7 that was filled with def and ran till it quit. I performed a relative compression and found that #4 was low. I performed a manual compression test and found that #4 is at 100 psi and #2 is at 140 psi. The other two where both around 350 psi so I pulled the head off and inspected. Being so low I hoped to find something. All pistons come over the deck the same amount, cylinder wall look good, piston tops don't look melted and I pull out #4 piston to have a look and don't see anything odd on the rings. I did find if you pour varsol on the face of the cylinder head you can see it leak into the intake and exhaust ports of the two cylinders and not on the other two. I don't think there is enough leakage to account 250 less psi so I am stumped as to where my lose could be. I did perform the manual compression test two different time just to be sure, even pulled the gear off the high pressure fuel pump just in case it was locking up. Have any of you had a 6.7 with base engine damage after being run on def ?
  20. Kenny, how did you fix your trucks with the blown up high pressure pumps ? Did you just replace the fuel system or did you find base engine problems? I have a 2016 f-500 with a blown up high pump, metal in vcv, rust stains on pcv and the high pressure roll pin has sheared off.

  22. Just went to park the truck out side and found it re set itself
