Cab removal on Goodyear service truck
Tony302600 replied to kellyf's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I read a post about Ford doing the Cab-on engine removal at the SLTS building. The guy had 4 bay's filled with stuff off the truck and 30hours on just removal. That's cab-on folks. -
Cab removal on Goodyear service truck

U run out of bulbs for your black and white camera? Still, what is so special about this truck that you cant take the cab off? -
Combustion gas passing through pintle?
Tony302600 replied to snw blue by you's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Everytime I have the whole bank out because of that, i get hotline involved, give them detailed instructions on my diag. 100% of the time they write this: "Combustion gases entering the fuel system will damage the other injectors on that side. To effectively repair this vehicle you MUST replace the injector's on the affected bank, and retest drive to ensure adequete fuel pressure is present at WOT." BTW I love checking fuel pressure on the e-series...ever since i got the adapter to go on the right rear head plug. Best place to check fuel pressure. -
Combustion gas passing through pintle?

We are on warranty arrest because our dealership FIXED all the banks of injector's. Other dealer's were just throwing one in at a time til the customer got pissed, cameto us, we diag'ed it the right way, replaced the whole bank and the weak fuel pump. Then the warranty nazi's bitch to us because we are highest in the area for diesel repair. -

Ok, early 03, missing, smokes ALOT... #1 injector failed. Replaced #1 injector, test drove, started running rough, checked power balance, #6 was at +40%, and the rest of the injector's were at -20%. Throwing codes for # 6 contribution. Fuel is at 47psi (awesome). Here's my brainfart....#6 at +40% throwing a contribution code for #6. So +40% means the injector is overfueling that cylinder, causing all my smoke? I'm soo drained with 6.0L stuff lately.

Ever since one guy saw scrub's, i've been called Beverly.

I am the only one that check's fuel pressure in the truck shop. I am the only one that goes out of his way to figure the ROOT cause of the failure, I am the only one that care's about the customer, and now I am the one that is going to have a talk with the service manager after being told "you are low man on the todem pole, your only 23yr's old." Then being pushed around. I think i've delt with carelessness for too long at this place. I think the ol toolbox is gonna have to be moved be day's end. Sorry to hi-jack, needed to vent.

Tony302600 replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Holy Shit Bruno..... Just use a 17mm turbo socket that goes over the bolt's washer, a 3inch 3/8 rachet, and hold a big prybar tip to the rachet. Have a helper push on the prybar while u hold it on the rachet...come's off in 2 seconds. That's all i use to get that bolt out on the 03's. No heat or nothing. -
Have any of you guy's used a MAC???? I went to the mac store, messed with a iMAC....couldn't leave the store. Not only is the picture fricken awesome, but it doesn't have all that pop-up, memory consuming bullcrap. No virus's known on mac's (that i know of) and i heard it pretty hard to hack into a mac. I was sold and i'm saving up for one. I'm soo sick of all the program's, internet security's, etc etc etc you gotta run to not get a virus, mac's dont need that stuff. MAC ALL THE WAY!!!

I've never used anything but my airlift when refilling and vehicle after a cooling system repair. It's awesome because it will not hold vacuum if you have a tiny leak which is a time saver if you were to just fill it the old fashioned way. Then realize you have a leak, then drain the system and fix the repair. It's saved me a couple of times. No heat at idle is no flow (if cooling system is full and no degas bottle overflow). That's why i would lean to the front cover/waterpump. Keith, i've had 3 or 4 truck's exhibit no sign's of degas bottle overflow til the customer say's the magic fraze... "Happen's when Towing my 5th wheel" I've had some customer come back with their trailer so i can check with my gauge to see if it goes over 18psi... On Edit: What year is this truck? Any residue on the degas bottle from sign's of it ever overflowning? I'm assuming you guy's followed the tsb for degas bottle overflow?
-
Yes, I can't remember the whole story since it was a year ago, something about lack of flow, or restriction, but they said that they will notify our dealership of a revised Front cover and waterpump Part# to cure this customers truck. The customer didn't end up buying it because he traded it in on a new 6.4L month before they were available. It was an early, early, early 03 truck, that's all i remember.

I put the recall one in my buddies 97...and he said he's having weird problems....hmmmmm /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

If those test pass, i've had radiator hoses that only leak when the truck is parked outside in the cold with the pressure gauge cause low coolant level. I've had good amount of trucks come through that WILL NOT show sign's of a leak, or leak when sitting in the warm shop with the coolant pressure tester on them overnight, but park them outside and u will find the leak overnight. That's my suggestion if the headgasket, and egr cooler test pass.

There is a company with a 2003 6.0 F550 with 155,000 miles, that i do side work for. Today I did an injector, the 2nd injector i've done on it in a month. #3 last time, #2 this time. The nut came off that rod in the center of the injector that's sideway's. The owner of the company tells me that he want's to keep it and look over the truck. He loses a lot of money when the truck is broken down, so he asked me if he should change all 8 inejctors, drop the tank to make sure it's not rusted ( i told him after i cheked the filter's that might be a reason for the injector failure's ) and whatever else it need's. He want's all the basis covered so it doesn't have anymore problem's. My question is, what do you guys think. The truck is in fair condition, they try to maintain it as best as they can, they get not too good of fuel sometimes, no degas bottle overflow, code's it has is p0401, p0404, p132b. no less then 51psi of fuel pressure at WOT. The truck is pretty solid from the looks. Relative compression show's #5 at 5% loss, and a couple at 3% loss. The y-pipe look's like it's leaking a little. He would rather spend $5,000 to put new stuff on then buy a $50,000 F-550 and transfer the box over. If an aftermarket company make's a better injector, turbo, whatever i'd like to know because he want's this thing to last. I told him regualr maintainence and good fuel should keep it running for a long time. Any opinion's would be appreciated. Thanks Tony

new CHRA binding
Tony302600 replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Heres the problem I have...i put a new turbo on after diaging a P2262....I can't get over .04psi of boost on the turbo test. I've tried everything...if this is a seized new turbo imma be pissed. -
Have been told that front cover's also cause this issue. Last few i worked on had low coolant due to degas bottle overflow. But we had one that a while back that had engineering scratching their heads....guy traded truck in.

This may be stupid but what is IATN?

new CHRA binding
Tony302600 replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Has anyone noticed that the detailed inspection sheet comes with the new CHRA? I ordered one and read that sheet, and what do you know.....after the detailed check i needed a turbo because i had crank slot wear. Now why on God's green earth would they put that sheet in the CHRA box that you have to order? Shouldn't it be with the TSB in the inspection part of it? -
new oil coolers contaminated
Tony302600 replied to Brad Clayton's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
We had a run of those too, usually a month apart. Isn't that awesome. And everyone wonder's why 6.0 warranty is so high.
