I got yelled at for upselling warranty.....then i got yelled at for spotting an oil leak on a 6,000mile truck... after all that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/fouet3.gif I got yelled at for not saying anything about coolant overflow on a 20K truck /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif

This is a touchy subject.... I hope Keith doesnt think we are bashing here. I am using this to see what the tuners take on all this is. If anything this is very imformative IMHO.

I was told in class its suppost to prevent run-away's also. The PCM will see the uncommanded RPM spike and close the throttle valve.

Started running truck and it shut off....Threw a p0603. Reprogrammed PCM...then monitored pids....revved engine...then let it idle, ICP rammed to 4300psi and 4v... then through a p1209, p1211 what a weird truck. The IPR is on the CKT for fuse 22 that blew out of nowhere....maybe im lookin at one of those. On edit.... found wire chafing 2inches away from the IPR connector /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

Ok, so i used a Fog lamp as a load to test voltage and ground on the PCM connector. Then i had no power from the PCM power relay to the PCM Connector.. Pins 71 and 97. Found the PCM fuse blown fuse 22. That fuse was good yesterday when i was double checking all the fuses. Replaced the fuse... everything is ok now /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif.... I left the fuel heater unplugged when i got it running...then plugged it back in and still everything is ok /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif. The only thing i did was disable the wiring from the alarm because it wouldnt turn off and the owner told me to.

Bruce....294 and 90/94 are THE WORST rodes to be on. It's hit or miss... I drove downtown on 90/94 at 3am... jam packed.. take 294...

I verified powers and grounds by disconnecting PCM C175 and using a test light and voltage dropping them.

02 no start, no communication, 7.3L. Have power at DLC, all lights flash on the VCM, Have VREF ( 5.01v ) at MAP and EBP. Have all powers and Grounds at PCM, disconnected Fuel heater still same thing. The engine light stays on KOEO, Glow plug light stays on also all the time. The IDM relay clicks like crazy. Disconnect the IDM, still clicks, disconnect main engine harness still clicks...disconnect PCM...no clicks, but Glow plug light and engine light stay on. Customer said that on sunday in the bitter cold the truck didnt really have power...in the morning wouldnt start so he changed the Glow Plug relay and then when the relay started clicking like crazy and he finally gave up. With the glow plug relay disconeceted same thing. I have 12v on both primaary ( small ) terminals when conected on the GP relay. Any idea's?

Keith when i said dont shoot the messenger i meant it as in the workplace. LoL... not at you.. LoL. People dont understand we have Ford breathing down our thoats, managers, high warranty numbers and low labor times. IT all comes down to this "WE'RE DAMNED IF WE DO....WE'RE DAMNED IF WE DON'T."

Keith, i am all about not voiding warranties...but lets look at it this way..... The adding timing curves that these tuners do add (100HP to the engine), increasing cylinder pressure above designed limits.... That did help the poorly engineer headbolts stretch faster, and then warp the heads. Now could that tuner have helped the FICM fail causing ALL low inj ckt codes and a no-start...maybe.. I will say that 90% of FICM failures i've seen were on trucks with a tuner on them. Did i void the warranty...no...Did my SM make the customer pay...only the asshole. if we voided everyone's warranty then we would HAVE to void the warranty of people putting in gasoline instead of diesel fuel. They pay the bill for the mistake, and on ure way. I do have the right to sternly rec. an asshole customer....(Mother f-in Ford, the company, his truck, possibly me,) pay the bill because of his tuner set at level 6 causing his truck to fail faster. I think the biggest issue is... Did the tuner cause the truck to fail faster and harder? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif Warranties should be voided by the rec. of the FSE and SM IMHO. Then it's not on ure shoulders..... Remember...Don't shoot the messenger...i'm here to tell you what I found and her is my recomendation. J....im sorry but anything that makes the 6.0L fly like the 6gun does is not covered under warranty. level 6 is disgusting fast with the intercooler, piping, etc etc. Now...the 6.0L is at 125% of capabilities...and ure gonna throw 150HP more at it...c'mon man... dont give me that horse junkie. Banks is just as fault as any other tuning company. the 6.0 makes 28psi boost.....the 6gun had my buddies up to 32psi + is that its designed limits? ... no...
