Performance Device Evidence
Tony302600 replied to Keith Browning's topic in Upgrade and Aftermarket Equipment
After reading ure post im starting to think that the VCM upload will upload all data from the computer to Ford engineers will look at all that data and then they will tell us what to do.And then the warranty nazi's will of course decline it. -
Motorcraft Full Synthetic Diesel Oil
Tony302600 replied to Keith Browning's topic in Fuels - Oils - Additives - Chemicals
DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON SCAMZOIL.....I would never use it. I will say though, for fear that my 04 navigators valvetrain might have oiling issues that i keep hearing about causing seized cams, I use BG's MOA oil additive at every oil change. I swear by it. -
That does not look comfortable.

6.0 egr cooler bypass kit
Tony302600 replied to jbarnett31's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Ok, So i put the full banks kit on my buddies 04 6.0L ( intercooler, cac hoses, intake adapter, 4inch exhaust, 6gun and pill). I want to put the block off plate for the EGR cooler inlet. Please tell me how you're going to do what you say you are? -
Heres some pix of my first one There is #7 with a slight bend in it, and #3 with the obvious bend

I have had around 10 trucks (mainly 6.0's) that would not leak coolant until they sat overnight outside in the cold. Every single one had low coolant, sat in the warm shop overnight lost maybe 1psi of pressure. Now put it outside in the cold, and it would lose all pressure overnight and have a puddle. Just a suggestion for ure truck.

Ok, you are thinking WAYYYYYY into this. Every single one out of warranty got a timesert. We have not had one failure and we use normal ones from carquest. You tell the customer... "you have 2 options for this repair a. timesert, b. or a head... We have had sucess with the heli-coil, but it is not a Ford approved repair so we cannot be held liable if it fails." 10 out of 10 will do the heli-coil. I haven't heard of one failure yet using one. I think some thought had to go into "heat transfer" and all the mumbo jumbo ure talkin bout. It comes down to this.... You tell the customer which choice they want. I can't count how many times ive worked on a truck and something else goes wrong. Be up-front and honest...it's not ure fault unless the customer said "check my e-brakes they're sticking" I dislike ure dealerships policies Dave ( from our talks ) seem's like all they want to do is cover their own asses and the customers leaving you guys out to dry....

Yea Jim....how did it..??? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boink3.gif

Greg, try the heat method....it seriously came out super easy.....Like keith said PATIENCE is the key....
-
Dave, the gas shop has done a ton of inserts when the sparkplug blows out, never told them needed body removal....or engine removal..... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif

If you heat the bolts up, they come out like butter.....i wouldnt do anything else

It is an hassle everytime i walk into parts because im 23, and the 45+yr old parts guys think i dont know anything etc etc, so we argue a lot. I can't stand the price's our parts guys charge its rediculous. Me and the other diesel tech realized that "big companies" with a lot of money get different prices from our parts guys then normal guys. I think thats wrong, and its a losing battle with the money hungry parts manager. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boxing.gif Our guys think they know everything, they NEVER order parts wrong, they always blame us. I gave a part number for a engine harness to the parts guy, he ordered the wrong one, blamed me, and it wasnt even the same basic number. i'm starting to think my time at this dealership is almost up /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif

All you guys that are getting the p0128 code with the messed up thermostats, is ure ect going above 170.6 degrees? Especially your's keith, did your messed up thermostat show weird ECT readings or just had a hunch? I have my first 128 ( the rest are 196's ) and my ECT stays dead at 170.6 - 172.2 at idle letting everything stabilize. j/w

This cant be just our shop seeing this
Tony302600 replied to Tony302600's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Oh yea..i found that #5 always pulses the most.....and always has a contribution code. Usually 1,3,5 are our on power balance and just barely runs. A couple have gotten fuel pumps but the 07's had fuel pressure within the revised spec -
We're still waiting......... Heres the tech when he sees another one of their trucks /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cover.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whattodo.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

Keith, the one that I had where the customer was complaining of abnormal heavy white smoke on cold start was a cracked DPF.

I'm going to take pix of my first indepth 6.4 problem. 2 bent pushrods on the exhaust side 3 and 7 from lot rot. Needs a head, 2 pushrods, and a page of nuts, bolts and washers i had to hunt down for my parts guys. I will take pix tom. What do you guys think about cab removal. I had the luxury of doing it on a tow truck so i had an aux hydraulic pump, crapload of wires. My 1/2'' 1000ft/lb reverse impace BARELY loosened the head bolts, ( international engineer told me he uses a 3/4 impact ). heated all the cab bolts, right front spun on me, and the rest came out like butter...then i made the "eastendpowerstroke Special Service tool," a bent 7/8 wrench and got it. Maybe I have to do it a few more times. Has anyone taken the head of besides me on this site or no, I have the biggest bucket of nuts and bolts, parts everywhere, it sucked. I was super excited to do the job until i saw it pays 9.4 to replace a head. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

Tony302600 replied to GregH's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Well this isnt my first diag but its my first major "dig into." popping out the intake, P0303, 66 miles on it, collapsed lifter is my diagnosis after watching #3 exhaust valve while someone crankedit over. -

Ok, so how many of you guys have been getting a whole bank of injectors out, due to combustion gases from an injector, (passenger side) on 05, 06's, especially on 07's. It's not a normal amount, in the past month we've counted 15 trucks. 8 07's, the rest 06's, and now the first 05 with a whole bank out. Fuel pressure is good, fuel filters brand new or changed by us. We sent a fuel sample to get analized, it was ok. It cant just be our shop, anyone else seeing this? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif I cant wait til the warranty nazi's get a hold of all these tickets (which we've written up to the T) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whattodo.gif
