ktm, i agree with you fully. I find myself grabbing "bullshit jobs" just because no one wants to do them. Ive had boat loads of messed up concerns, ive had cars in my stall for weeks because I cant figure them out and it turns out being something stupid. I had a UPS van ( brand new motor, trans, exhaust, plugs wires, coil ) everything was brand new, when you go to start it, it would misfire and backfire. I talked to hotline for days and then one guy came up to me and said, try a different design coil. parts said that is the only coil for a 4.2L e series. Turns out, UPS vans got 3.8L windstar coils completely different coil, that fixed it. 3 full days down the drain. checking wires, air gaps, synchros. I'm always the guy everyone comes to when they dont understand recalls, tsb's and ssm's under warranty because i usually always do them first. Do i mind....no..... does it get old...yes...

Injector Installation In Chassis
Tony302600 replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I always torque down 6.0 intakes, I always torque down injector hold downs, no if ands or buts. I cant even count the amount of things i use my electric 3/8 impace from matco. I've never had a problem. Things become so repetitive that we know my experienced had whats good enough past the spec with the tools we use. I get laughed at sometimes when I take out my torque wrench when doing some of the things I do. I even sometimes go over by 1-2 lbs/ft or in, depending on what I am doing jsut for extra security. -
Steve I got the tube and fitting today, WOW from WA, i got it in 2 days, jesus thats fast.

no no no it is 19w231.....

ive only had one do that to me only at 55-70mph and thank god keith helped with it on here and told me to turn SYNC and FICM sync into a bar graph and found it erratic.....replaced cam, crank sensors and wiring harness, fixed it. Hotline gave me killer ways to check it with the Scope on IDS to check if it was a trigger wheel issue or sensor issue. Kudos to Seth at hotline again.

Ive never seen a turbo shaft break, and ive never seen bad headgaskets ( unless modified ). Other diesel tech got burned by bottom side of Hot side CAC to intercooler connection just barely torn. He did y-pipe, rechecked turbo everything. Old diesel tech (when 6.0's were still a mistery", had a problem, spent 2 days, trying to figure a truck out, i walked up to him ( 2 years ago ) and was talking to him, went to spin the wheel of the turbo, and go, "hey how come this isnt spinning" He dropped his tools, punched out and went home for the day.

Dwayne is was the main engine harness, not the FICM harness right. My parts guys are trying to find it and cant find hte right part number for the main engine harness.

Actually i just did a voltage drop on the Cam sensor to pcm connector test. had .03v drop on both wires.... now im stumped.

6.4 Check sheet that states aftermarket components wont affect warranty Thats the link for the FORD check sheet that clearly states, aftermarket equipment will not effect warranty unless it is the causal part of the failure. Now taht is bullshit from wut we've been told.
-
That is what I'm leaning torwards. They said that when the 2nd to last dealer did the "reposition harness around PCM connector by oil dipstick tube" it cured it for a year, now this, so i probably will put a harness in it. I cant get it to act up grabbing the harness though like u said.

Well guys its back, the e350 that ive been messing with. P2614 now in codes, and the guy said it wouldnt start, he let it roll down the hill of his driveway and slammed on the brakes, it rocked the truck, and then he got it started. Did voltage drops on cam sensor ckt, and we dont have the adpater for the VDR so i cant use it. Voltage drop is .02-.04 volts on the ckt. I cant verify it but it keeps getting towed in. am i chasing wiring, PCM, FICM, i cant figure this thing out.

When in doubt, its always the electronic throttle body.

I had a early 03 6.0 excursion that wouldnt relearn turbo and flutter a lot after performing 06e17, monster exhaust, massive intercooler, cold air, u name it. Wuts the 2nd step in that TSB, "look for any aftermarket intake/exhaust modifications, if so return to stock." read it to the customer, he got pissed because it didnt do if before the reprogram, and thats sad because he's a super nice guy who bought the truck modded, doesnt have the stock parts, and it has 137,000 on it when he bought it at 110,000. Thank god he comes in, and i think he's saving up for his CP headgasket job

EEC V with a MAF, not speed density

Ok guys, I have a 95 F-150 5.0L. Int. stalls per customer and pings, mainly when he goes to park the car low speed manuevers, with A/C on full blast, in reverse, and cranking the wheel over. Tried IAC no fix, he wanted a cap, rotor, plugs done so i did. Set timing down to 8 degrees for ping concern ( never verified it ). TP voltage is a .9v, and max at 4.5v. Did idle relearn strategy ( disconnect IAC, and bump up idle set screw, then plug in IAC and disconnect battery for 30min. Nothing. Fuel pressure is ok, egr valve vacuum hose disconnected, still happens. Ive never been able to get this truck to stall while driving going to a stop. Only time ive gotten to stall is when ure turning the wheel with A/C on full blast, in reverse. It doesnt have a p/s pressure switch. I've tried everything any ideas. No codes by the way. im leaning torwards TP sensor, but i dont want to throw parts at it.

Like I keep telling you guys, We had a hotline engineer who i trust and has always helped me tell me that its actually 15 degrees difference when they start to go. That has stuck with me and havent had a repeat repair. Now i keep hearing about a bad batch of EGR/Oil coolers so im waiting for something to come back

This is not good for Ford because we constantly get customers ESPECIALLY THE OLD TIMERS, saying "i wish they never got rid of the 7.3" when their 6.0 comes in for work. I think their are SOOO many people fed up with the 6.0 that that as soon as ANYTHING comes out that can do what the 450-550 can do, they will jump on that right away. Don't get me wrong, I love Ford and all, but when you put a high pressure pump on a 6.0, for a no start on a early 03, doesnt start, no ICP, IPR at 85%, go THROUGH EVERYTHING, then hotline saying its a bad pump, putting another pump on and that works, the customer complaining why his truck isnt done yet, hes losing money cause its in the shop. They get pissed. Or after a major repair is done, week later STC fitting goes out and blames us because it was just here for a EGR, Oil Cooler, they get pissed off and search for anything to get out of their truck. One of our biggest problems at our shop is our service writers promising trucks when we arent even done with them yet. They come to pick it up, something else goes wrong, and we look like asses.

Turbo Diagnostics with Rack Position Sensor
Tony302600 replied to Bruce Amacker's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines

Dave who was that? Tell me it was nick.....

One of the techs had this sticker slapped on his bumper " I dont even think straight " with a rainbow on it, and for a month he said he was getting waved at by girls and guys randomly.

How bout to the newbies " can you get me a metric adjustable wrench" I throw snowballs above the techs toolbox against the wall so it explodes everywhere on top his box. fluids under the trucks is awesome. We have a smartass service writer, but 13oz of wheel weights on the insides of all his tires fixed that.
