PERSONAL 6.0L FIASCOES
Tony302600 replied to Brad Clayton's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif That is toooooooo funny. Only sceonario that happened like that would be major engine or trans work, car would be running and we would put new trans fluid or oil under the car and tech would come back and see the leak pissed off. -

Other diesel tech did a HPOP fitting on a 05 5.0 E-van. Go to start it up.. Nothing, no icp, ipr at 84%. Shit....calls me over...LoL maybe u put the branch tube block upside down..."no way he said" come back 3 hours later, he pops the cover off....sure as shit was upside down. I had a injector connector on a 6.0 that would not stay on, when i did gas drivebillity, i did 3.8 upper inake gasket o-rings, bolts isoloters, clamshell for leans codes, get all done look on my took boc, theres 6 new orings in the package, 6 old ones next to them, gotta take it apary again... LoL, my best one was on a 94 7.3. No start, stalled while driving, no fuel at HPP, no fuel coming out of Low pressure pump, replace low pressur pump, nothing, rediag, get frustrated, leave it for 3 hours, come back...crank the shit outta it...nothing... while im cranking i see teh fuel gauge is WAY WAY past full. SOAB... hit tank from undeneath, sounds wicked empty drop tank, negative terminal is rusted off, remove pickup...no fuel.... SOAB... Lol -
Oh dear god. Whenever i take my yearly trips to mexico i always meet canadians. Your guys' way of life is so passive, laid back, and non-understanding to our stressed out ways. The topic of george dubya bush always comes up whenever talking to you guys.
-
They have to convert it to metric and add all the "eh's" at the end of the sentences so you guys understand. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif

05 with hard start hot or cold, once started runs VERY VERY quiet and when u hit accel pedal wont do anything, but barely idle. go to do KOER and p1725, 1726 come up. All pids look awesome except IPR is at 18% but ICP is at 600-800psi hmmmmm. It was a int. stuck IPR. Seth at Hotline helped me with that one and explained that the computer sees 600-800 from the icp but is actually getting 400ish causing hard start and it being VERY VERY quiet( i think thats how i remember it )

Jim you have no idea how many times i sit there and ponder the same thing. We have to know so much, and we are the 2nd lowest paid trade i think it is? I dont tell people im a mechanic, i tell them im a diesel specialist for Ford. That sound good to you guys?
-
I dont talk about how much but, I make $20-$22 $3 extra cause im a diesel tech, extra $1.50 for booking over 44 so that comes to 26.50 and ive only been doing this 3 years, started out doing oil changes at $8 an hour first year. Raises are coming up, i asked for a substantle raise ( after i resealed a 3rd member in a F-550 and it almost fell because we dont have enough straps ). My manager told me that their are a handful of guys that shouldnt be getting paid the pay they get but he cant go backwards (previous service manager messed everything up). Now do I stay if I dont get what i want, or do i go to another dealership. I do this because I love it. I love the daily challenge but i want recognition for it sometimes. I set a goal to buy a house in 6 months and i dont think i could afford the mortgage at wut i am at now. I take this work home with me, i go the extra mile, get more pissed off then the customer if i cant verify the concern, i stay late when needed. I hate rambling, I hate sounding like " i should get this much bcuz, or they owe it to me" but sometimes reality sets in and u start thinking that way when you see hacks making a lot more then you, asking you questions, taking credit for it, then talking down on me bcuz im 23 after helping them. Oh well, thanks for letting me vent. If i leave the business it will be to take my dads company over, and be unhappy, but make a lot of money, or become a cop. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif

Jim, on oil coolers hotline told the other tech "20degrees difference.....ya right more like 10 " so ive been going off that. Im glad that this post just came up because ive been trying to get my "doo-dad" adapter to test fuel pressure on a 6.0 evan, and i totally overlooked the back of the head. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif

Jim i also have never seen a 6.0 new and old with anythingover 45psi. Is it just me, or is that the norm for these engines. I checked one at 300miles, 42psi. Checked on at 100,000 miles, 40psi, checked another one we got in with 250,000 on it, 43psi?

The "do you understand your 6.4L" contract
Tony302600 replied to Tony302600's topic in The Water Cooler
Dwayne, our shop is the exact same, our service manager is 38-39, always messing with us, joking around but we know when to be serious. We are always playing practical jokes and having fun since its just me and the other diesel tech in the shop who always keeps me on my toes with comments, jokes, and situations. -
I have a 30 gig iPOD and a boombox for it, ( really nice one ) Me and the other diesel tech are the only ones in the shop and i play anything

The "do you understand your 6.4L" contract
Tony302600 replied to Tony302600's topic in The Water Cooler
Never a dull comment from Dwayne I swear LMFAO /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif We're still waiting for our first broken 6.4 also. Its like a cop with a itchy trigger finger. -
Just curious but, how many of you actually know of your sales guys having your service manager, sales manager, and owner sign the paper stating he understands the unique needs of his 6.4. I talked to a customer who just bought a 6.4L (traded his beautiful 7.3L) and asked him if he knew about the need for ULSD, and he looked at me like.."huh, they said its like the diesel diesel i had just more power." So i explained everything to him. My service manager told me he hasnt been talked to once and we sold 10 6.4's so far.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!! My Cousin is a Ford Engineer (F-150 powertrain) and i stump him sometimes, after i ask him something he grabs a jack daniels bottle, pours more jack then coke, looks at me and says " thats a good question here take a drink "

Quite frankly I'm not that happy because they dont include TSB's. Majority of our work is TSB related. Last year if u completed a damn diag guide you got one LoL. I spun once and got $25, but the rest are TSB's completed since everything is pretty much covered. Now dont get me wrong, a lot of the tsb's though are actual time, but still. Fordracer, Call and tell them that ure card is gonna expire, they will transfer everything to a new card, same number but new card, i think its a 10 credit charge, thats what i had to do.
-
Here we go, 05 no start normal crank 6.0. Everytime we get the van it starts. Has 60K on it, other dealers have put 3 cam sensors, egr valves, and did all the tsb's for no start. The other diesel tech put a branch tube and fitting in it 2 months ago. Checked harness chafing on PCM, no codes, starts up everytime we get it then gets towed in. Any idea guys?
-
I thought that when the BG guy told me bout the EGR cleaner ( said we'd have one this january ) it would be a good thing, then the more i thought bought it, it would just sit in the corner next to the BG diesel fuel injector cleaner. I do thought use the MOA oil additive with my oil change in my car because ive read and heard nothing but good JUST FROM THE MOA
-
I have a 2004 F-250 6.0 with a torqshift. The customer complains that when he is towing his 14K trailer that from a stop intermitantly feels like it starts out in 3rd or 4th, in his words "turbo spools up but wont go anywhere." Any of you guys encounter this, seems like a trans problem but trans guy said theres nothing wrong with it. I've had the same problem with a bad EGR valve but it was billowing out black smoke when this happened, his isnt. No codes. J/C since im beginning to get into trans work.
-
Jim i didnt believe that til i tried it. Other diesel tech didnt either. Works 90% of the time, thanks for that tip, i usually fight with em.
-
I'm working on a runs rough, smokes, 2000 7.3. no codes til i do contribution and get 1 & 3 not contributing. Do all the normal diag, and turns out might need an injector. For sh&Ts and giggles i swap the IDM out. Wut do u know it runs beautifully. This is the 2nd time pinpoint test said throw an injector in and it was the IDM in 2 weeks. man o man good thing we have a spare one to test with. LoL.
-
And Chicago too..... we are slow the diesels now, and im not to happy
-
LMFAO @ "with gauge bar in hand" How the hell can ure techs make 6 figures...... I must be doing something wrong. How many turbo cleanings is that a week? LoL
