Until they fix the pay plan it won't change. The SA has ZERO problem selling a 6 hour strut/alignment job, which he knows will take 2hrs MAX, but try to get more than an hour for diag and they look at you like you are from Mars. Nothing like being asked "how long is it gonna take you to diag that electrical problem"? Well? If you show me where/what the problem is, I'll have it fixed in 30 minutes or less. Just like Dominos...

SCT livewire turbo control question.
ktmlew replied to lmorris's topic in Upgrade and Aftermarket Equipment
That would be easy for me. I would put it back in the parking spot they left it in. Stock or I ain't working on it. -

Gen III/VI Small Block Oil Consumption & Oil Pressure Issues
ktmlew replied to ktmlew's topic in All Gasoline Engines
Finally dug into one of these for oil pressure issue. 2007 4.8. Had been chasing a slow coolant leak...found it! Milkshake city. Was planning to replace the oil pump as had 25psi cold. Manager said go ahead and do the pump and lets see how far it goes...I don't have all the tools for these. Why have they quit putting dowel pins on timing covers? Stupid. Installed cover with bolts loose, installed damper...AFTER going to Fastenal and getting reamed for 32 bucks for a piece of threaded rod and 25 nuts...yes 25...assholes. Tightened cover after damper install to center/locate cover. I ordered a damper installer and seal butt plug last night. Won't have them till early next week. Started it right before I left. 50 psi. Better. I suspect porous head casting. -
I know it says discontinued. Thought you wanted to know the year range it fit. I would find a new one that appears to be the same externally and swap the spring. That will be the only difference between a truck & car valve.

One listed locally that "doesn't run" for $1500.00. Opinions?Does anyone make a reasonably priced battery for these or is it OEM only?

Don't you hate it when guys quote themselves? It was the motor on the side of the case in the passenger footwell. i noticed that motor wasn't moving before, but find it difficult to do diag when somebody is looking over my shoulder. Three screws and it's out. A bit tougher to get back in as the doors linkage arm drops down due to gravity...I'll snap a picture of another van later. Didn't realize the heater core is there lying basically flat. The motor moves a blend door.

Still wasn't getting fuel to fuel pump. Just a trickle of fuel out of line to pump after cranking. Tried to blow back into tank. No joy. Dropped tank...what a dumbass...used a cap on line that had a flat bottom with a piece of thin cardboard as a gasket while cleaning tank. Didn't look closely enough after removing cap...DOH!

Dually Hub & Drum Install
ktmlew replied to ktmlew's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
Test drove truck from above today. High frequency vibration/dddddddddddd from rear brakes. WTF? New drums. It was doing the same thing before I replaced the drums but actually worse now. We do NOT have a brake lathe. I knock the studs in about 70% of way with hammer handle then seat them with air hammer. Then flip over and tighten lug nuts with 120lb torque stick. Install hub and install wheels with 120lb torque stick. Found RR had a snug spot when shoes were run up really close. Swapped on another hub/used drum assembly and all good. Will knock studs out and inspect mating surfaces for debris. We have some rotors and drums we intend to have turned so i have some ready-to-go spares. I would prefer to have drum machined with it assembled to hub. Do you guys machine new drums? These are AM Wearever Advance parts. -
I kinda suspected that. Keep forgetting. Thanks.

Was talking to co-worker at start of video. Actually did the whole thing with one hand. Need to bring my GoPro in for this stuff. Phone is hard to know when it's pointed right direction. -

So how do you guys handle these? On a box van its really tough to get a good lift by hand if the van isn't able to be lifted very high. I fingered-out a way.
