    Techs

I don't think most shops follow the A,B,C. Or none that I work in. I find myself as a C lvl tech, I am doing A lvl work on C lvl pay. It's all about how to make the most money for the business. i agree with doctor I don't think that it is written in stone.
  3. My boss wants me to remove the head to see if I can find the bolt. This is my frist time ever removeing any head from a motor. Any advice will be great, and do you think that I will even find it. Is there anyway of getting this paid by warrenty?
  4. gasgasman..I work in a small shop only 3 guys plus me and 1 lube tech. I have only been full time for less than a year. I went though the ford asset program. During the 2nd yr in the program ford notice that it was geting harder to find and train people on diesel due to the fact that anyone in the shop doesn't want to work on it. I was part of a pilot program that would send us to diesel training for one week and make us cerified. The problem with me atleast is that I am the only one that can work on diesel other than the tech beside me. But he doesn't want to work on them and will do anything to get out of it. So most work falls on me. I don't really have anyone I can turn to at work for help when something like this happens. I am also the only one that does wheel alignments so there is many times I will have to stop in middle of a job and take care of that. I also do gasoline diag on check engines lights and electrical stuff. So on top of that my boss want to send me to hybrid school b/c we don't have anyone trained at this time. And no one wants to. Also my boss threaten to fire me over this droped bolt just bc this truck belongs to a friend of the owner of the store and expects everything right then and there. We even rolled the milage back on the R.O to make the truck back in warrenty. If I bring up anything about more money he can't tell me to turn more hours bc I am turning right at 40 hrs. which no one else is coming close. He brings up stuff I broke like that injector connector. He expects me to have all the skill of someone that has been in it for 30 yrs. I keep telling him that this is still all new to me b/c i didn't work nor have any training on cars before I went to college.
  5. I was working on a 03 6.0 f 250. Somewhere b/w the 5 and 7 injector. I droped a bolt from the top of the oil rail. I think that it has made its way to the oil pan. Though I am not sure. If any one has a surgestion I am open to it. Spent 3 hrs looking for it and worked over too. 6.0 are a pain in the a## esp when you are only making 14/hr. conmission
  6. Does anyone have problems snaping the injector connectors together. 2(on diff. trucks) times I have replaced number 7 and had the connector snap in place only to find later that it had come apart. Both time this has happend I have found that the male side connector had a pin bent. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong plz let me know. This is really getting old. Esp since both times I have had the truck put back together. Also I pull on the connector before putting the cover back on, and they didn't come apart then.
  7. Told you I was ha. ha. Anyways we don't have a 7.3L kit. Someone had walked off with it. I work at a small dealer that has just changed hands and the guy that owned it before hand did care about it and alot of tools have gone missing.
  8. OK, I need help in trying to find a magnehelic gauge for diesels. Like the one in all the web base training. Or another gauge that is good to check oil and fuel pressures.
  9. As far as parts go do I need to replace the glow plugs too, or just the harness.
  10. I a F550 in the shop and by the looks of the oil leak that it is coming from the Glow plug harness. Has anyone seen this before if so how does the harness run on the engine (ie..around back or across the top.) thanks
  11. I don't know if you guys have ever seen this or not. But the F550 that I have been working on had a bump in the steering wheel. I pulled the steering wheel off and found that the wheel was actually seperating from the sleeve in the middle. A few more miles and it would have seperated to the point that it wouldn't be able to turn the truck.

  13. Found the ICP thanks doctor. After I pulled the connector I found oil in the connector and the ICP. Are these things know to leak?
  14. Well I still have the Y-pipe out so I think I should be able to get to alot easier. now thanks to the info
  15. I hate to keep bothering you guys but I have run into another problem with my 6.0. I found that the Icp harness has a open in it was informed by OASIS to replace connector. The connector that I have is a 3 pin and the sensor on the truck is a 2 pin. Another tech here at the shop told me that I have to replace the sensor also. My question is what 2 wire on the new connector needs to be tied into the old harness. thanks
  16. For those who have read my last post I have just now gotten that dang /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif y-pipe /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif off. Of course if that wasn't hard enough the owner of the truck just called and wanted a oil leak looked at on the LH side of engine. I crawled under the truck and can see oil from the head and block area. Well since I can't start the truck and really don't feel like doing double work. Can somebody give me advise on how to find it while it is tore down. It's a 93 F550 6.0l. thanks
  17. thanks doctor I will make sure I pick up a set.
  18. Thanks for the help guys. No one in the shop works on diesel so it's just me on my own and like i say ealier I am new to all this. I have having troubles geting the Y-pipe discounted from the LH exhaust manifold. That bolt on the upper side of the pipe is giving me a hard time. Also any other advice I sure need it. I may also want to add that I ma doing this on the ground. Yes, you heard me right. We do not anything that can pick this truck up. Maybe after this my service manager will look into this for me. Thanks guys
  19. Yeah I am new to this I just won't say how new. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I need any tips or tricks that you can give on getting the back bolt off the turbo charger. thanks
  20. I have a 03 f550 6.0 in the stall. Brought in for lack of power found that the ep is only at 14 psi inspected under the hood and found what looks to be black sult from the exhaust system all over the left fender and hood area. I was wondering if anyone else had run across this? Or if someone could give me adivse. I am new to the 6.0 just got out of training for these "works of art" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif thanks jwebb
