Ok sorry about the confusion the parasitic draw test was not run while the truck was running. The little slip they printed out from advance auto says 24.66A.Im not seeming to get much draw when i switch it to amps, but then again i didnt have the other battery disconnected.I wont be working on this rig again until this weekend. With all this great advise from everyone ill go at it with a full head of steam and get my results up and what i found ASAP.Thanks again.

I have a blue point meter It reads amps and milliamps.
-
Well when that test was run for the 24 amps the truck was running.Thats the way the machine tested it.Now that i think about it Bruce that makes me steer more toward the alt.My multimeter is hooked up i hooked it up to regular amps first and it was like 3/4 of an amp.Didnt want to blow my milli fuse. When i switched it to milli Thats when i had like the 17 to 18 milli amps.I disconnected the negative cable from the battery and ran my leads inline from the negative post to the terminal connector. Is that what your talking about Keith???Bruce ill try disconecting the alt tommarow.Whats a normal parasitic draw considered?

Have a 96 f-250.Batteries go dead overnight.Batteries were replaced by customer. He had it hooked up to a tester at advance and brought me in the paper. Its says Drain test 24.66A.Investigate power drains that could affect battery life and performance.I hooked up my meter and set to milliamps. My meter says 17.08 and keeps fluctuating.I started pulling all the fuses under dash. The only one that affected the draw was when i pulled the fuse for the door chime. And it n only came down an amp and a half.Same under hood pulled all of them and the only one it came down for was the 50 amp maxi for the instrument panel fuses.Only came down a little still pulling like 14.34 amps.Im stumped.Am i supposed to test the drain off both batteries???Or just one.I should have my meter set to milliamps correct????Any help appreciated.

Anyone have a part number for the fuel lines that go from the mechanical pump to the back of the heads. The ones that the big banjo bolt holds on.thanks

Thanks for all the help guys.Just to let you know a uvc harness fixed it.After everything ohmed out good.

08 F-550,45,000 miles.P0208 Injector circuit open cylinder 8.No other DTC's.Truck runs like crap.Feels like it miss's on more than one cylinder(multiple).Updated PCM first off.Watching SFT's nothing changes they all stay at 0.Never seen that happen.Followed PPT P.Had me check injector power and ground circuits.Checked from PCM connector E to UVC harness connector at Cylinder head. Both circuits Ohm out good.Removed the UVC harness right out of head and ohmed out good.Checked injector, good. Now i triple checked myself on this. Its telling me to replace the PCM.So i contact hotline. They tell me to replace the UVC harness first before condeming the PCM.So i ordered one and will put it in tommarow.Im puzzled because i ohmed tested like 3 times and even checked it over visually by taking the plastic cover off and found nothing. But on the other hand The way it is missing and why SFT's arent changing makes me think maybe it is the PCM.Anyone run into anything similar?

Keith took a long screwdriver and poked right where the harness lays over that intake manifold bolt and guess what!Truck shut right off!
-
Thanks Keith, i thought only a short to vref would cause the momentary reset of the pcm.Good to know.Im at work now and im going to check those chaffe spots you showed me with the link.
-
Yes i did miss that Keith.I will def check tommarow.Bruce how would a faulty GPCM cause this concern and why?Keith why would a chaffe in that location cause these 2 lights to illuminate.I dont like just changing parts guys.I like to know why.So excuse my questions if they seem stupid.Like my sig says ASSET grad.So bare with me!

Got an 04 f250 that comes in with the complaint of engine cutting out sometimes stalling and when it happens the wait to start illuminates and the water in fuel does as well.Im guessing that im shorting v-ref somewhere and its causing the pcm to temp reset.I checked the most obvious sensors. The EBP and the ICP.Both look like they have had new connectors heat shrinked in at some point. But found no obvious signs of a short. My questions are,Can the sensors themself actually short vref???Has anyone found some not so obvious sensors circuits shorting???Any help always appreciated

i dont have a relay tester but swapped with a known good one and problems is still there will check pcm power and grounds.

2000 E-150 with a 6 cylinder.Vehicle has already had a fuel pump thrown at it and a crank sensor at another dealer. Then they told him there was a short somewhere. When the vehicle sits for long periods of time it will just crank and crank and crank. If you cycle the key a bunch of times i noticed that the service engine soon light isnt illuminating on the dash. But when you finally get it to the vehicle fires right up.Then it cranks and runs fine. But if you let it sit for a long time like three hours it will act up again. No codes.Anyone had similar problems.Pcm poer relay is clicking as soon as you turn the key on.Im gonna check powers and grounds but could this be a proccessor going to shit?
-
Well tell me i didnt get screwed. My service department paid me 9 hours to do a harness on an econoline.Said they couldnt find what it pays so thats what they felt was appropiate.Meanwhile ive got 15 + hours into it.

ahahahha thanks guys sometimes my brain stumbles.

I have a set of extra set of head gaskets from a 6.0.Im trying to figure out if they are 18mm dowel or 20mm.The part number on them is 1850307C1.I know you can use the stepper dowel but i have none and my buddies truck needs head gaskets and im prolly gonna do them for him.
-
nope rear cover never off.Got the cab off and it was def the turbo drain.
-
What does this pay?Its not warranty...
-
Thanks Bruce,Its ok he knows how i feel about him.
-
Yea,all i could really see with the heat shield off the turbo and the intake elbow off was around the oil cooler and that was dry.But if you get under the truck and look up the back it looks like its seeping right of the HP pump gasket.Im sure your right though, either way its gotta be fixed. Thanks
-
Have any of you guys run into the HP pump gasket leaking oil?
-
Yea well my service manager is an asshole. If i tell him i cant diag properly without a schematic or knowledge of how it works he will just call me an idiot and give it to another guy.I dont want the next guy to get pissed off at me and come to me asking why i couldnt fix it.
-
I have an 06 LCF with a thermo king reefer unit.It has an auxilary AC compressor.Anyways the model is a V-500.The problem is that the controller in the cab wont do anything. You hit the power buton and nothin happens.Ive been through all fuses and visual checking for broken wires but without a schematic or any knowledge of how this works im dead in the water.Any help appreciated. Thanks
