It is mighty impressive that they drove to the north pole. And leave it to those guys to make a competition out of it.

Speaking of Duracraps. Does anyone know why there is a coolant port in the seperator plate on the upper right side? Had a friend blow that gasket out recently. Just covered by a cheesey block off plate. Maybe for some additional cooling system components for a different platform?

Easy Brad, sometimes the little ones sneak by.

Had 2 down cats today on the hill. Seems a storm of leaking hydro hoses lately. On the up side, was able to operate our brand new Pisten Bully 600 polar. Didn't have my phone so couldn't take any nice pics of a beautiful 15 degree Vermont morning.

The Diesel That Saved Ford?!?!
fabfoes87 replied to robsmth41's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have a subscription to Diesel Power magazine and enjoy the material. But when I came across that article I nearly shit. My only saving grace was that I was already on the porcelian thorne. I dont hold much stock for the 6.4 either and if I ran into for 500 bucks, I'd pass. -
Welcome back Aaron!

I was hoping he would burnout right after that. Whenever I see a Prius driver, I thank them for lowering their carbon footprint, so I can make mine bigger.

Good luck!

You get what you pay for

I've told the guys at my shop the importance of motorcraft filters for our 6.4. The other day, I walk outside to a wix rep poping the hood on said truck. "We'll have plenty of filters for this truck". I just smiled and waved. -
Let's hope that 2012 thing doesn't play out.

Brad, did you forget why I left? That shop is a joke. I was always busy, doing jobs well outside my pay grade(13.00)and never could make any money, funny how that works. While lazy comeback kings take home all the bacon. After 3 years of sevice, enough was enough.

The last pcm flash recall....
fabfoes87 replied to Brad Clayton's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Our 6.4 at the mountain gets worked pretty hard. Unfortunately no one knows how senitive this motor is. Came in the other day for mil and had p0304. All you can do with Blue Point scan tool is pull code. So sent out for injector replacement under warranty. Im trying to convince the powers that be, that Napa filters are garbage and will destroy this motor. But they like cheap around here. -
Roomate made burgers in frying pan, while cooking bacon. The amount of greese could capsize the Titanic. Did taste good though.

Nice job Brad.

Well, 3 weeks into the new job. Traded working on super dutys to Detracking 13 piston bully groomers. Life is a lot different out of the dealership. Have pics soon.

Well, I've come to the end of the road at my current shop. Have been here for 3 years and it's time to for me to move on. Im headed to the local ski resort to work on Groomers and other equipment. Hourly shop and major change of pace. Keep everyone updated on how it works out.

Sorry for the long awaited update. Exhaust manifold was installed on my day off and tech said he heard nothing out of the ordinary. Of coarse I was concerned because he had no idea how to recreate the noise, but I was optimistic. A couple weeks go by and customer had not been back. Well on monday customer returns and says noise is still present. I had been anticipating this and was planning to atack the alternator first. I hooked up the chassis ear directly to the alternator and the intake. Go on a test drive and recreate noise. Through the headphones, can hear noise gradually come up and intensify about 10 seconds before noise enters cab. The noise was always heard through channel 1 which was directly on the alternator itself. Nothing from the intake. Back at the shop installed new Alt. and test drove again. Could not get noise to return. This concern seems to be poping up all around our shop. Another tech has the same noise on 5.4. I would like the members of DTS for their input, becaue before I posted this topic, I had no direction to take after the exhaust manifold. Thanks for the help fella's.

Had a wierd one yesterday. Cust comes in says he has a very loud and annoying whistle noise coming from the engine compartment when driving. At first I alone heard nothing but after a 2 mile drive with the customer, noise made itself clear. It sounds like a turbo spool on psd, but will go away when throttle is adjusted slightly. So I droped the customer off and B man and I made another drive to figure it out. We could get the noise to happen when slowly taking off and heading up a hill. Noise creeps up and is most prevelent in third gear. Very high pitch whiste. So back in shop, decided to smoke intake and maybe find any type of leak that may be causing noise. Smoke test ok, no leaks. Upon a more in depth visual, I found that RS Exhaust manifold had 2 broken studs on cyl 4. Our theary is that exhaust gasses leaving cyl, and causing the gasket to act like a reed valve causing noise. Ordered manifold and hardware, day off today but hopefully tommarow Customer will have a quite truck. I know it's late to ask now, but has anyone heard of this type of noise before? Thanks guys.

I cant wait to see the teardown.

Stupid mistake yesterday. While trying to set up my sis's Exploder on my lift, the hood shocks decided to let go and give my fingers a nice hello. The hood completely latched down on 2 of my left hand digits. But thanks to some quick thinking of B.C, I was out in no time. Hurt like a basterd. I dont think I'll be making that mistake again.

That sucks, Patrick Warburton is one funny mofo, but now that he's sleepen with the enemy, I'll have to turn my back on him. But anyway, chev talks a lot of shit but have the forgotten that toothpick front suspension they run? A Super Duty front control arm probably weighs as much d max cylinder head.
