  1. 2008 F350 6.4L PSD came rolling in here yesterday, customer said.."the turbo quit working" So I go out and see if it spools up, no it doesn't. I then check my CAC lines and cooler. nothing wrong there. so the customer leaves it with me. check some things out and determine..something is not right in Denmark. I check the MGP readings and something funny happens, key on engine off my manifold gauge pressure is atmospheric, when I start it up it should build pressure, no much but I should be getting boost... I was getting a negative pressure when this beast starts indicating I am producing Vacuum in a Diesel engine WTF over....... right then I knew this was not going to be pretty. Well, got access to the low pressure turbo and sure enough, its locked up tighter than a prom queens thighs. so I then check the oil filter.......I just started shaking my head.......completely collapsed and completely clogged with sludge. it went 36K without an oil change. so on a hunch I removed the primary and secondary fuel filters, the secondary looks a little used, but the primary is also collapsed with a "FF" suffix on the filter meaning "Factory First"............. yep, you guessed it, never been changed. vehicle odometer says 53K oil change last preformed at 17K. told him we needed maintenance records and he immediately started calling us crooks and thieves etc, etc............. stupid should hurt. I think it will
  2. This, with the exception of the pushrod engine part If I am not mistaken, instead of VCT control it will incorporate hydraulically controlled valve train. at least that is what they showed us
  3. We were demo'd the tool in Detroit 2 years ago. our FSE was issued a kit and it worked great, I was sold. we got our kit and could not get the damn thing to work to save my ass. so I bought a tool off the tool truck from Lisle the pushes the porcelain down and then you grab the shield. I have not looked back
  4. perhaps I am misunderstanding you, but 90 degrees is 90 degrees. I have never attempted to torque them other than the first 2 initial settings. It is all I use on the 6.0L and it is a godsend
  5. and it did, had to reflash it per a recall/program yesterday, no problems
  6. turns out the coolant pressure was ok, I just need a new gauge.....go figure
  7. Installed that way, engine supplied by navistar to the USgovt. was supposed to be shipped overseas and can run off of jet fuel or kerosene. no placard in place stating anything related to emmissions. hvbom....sure. 8. replaced #2 & #4 injectors fixed the contribution codes I was recieving, but still runs like shit cold and white/grey smoke heavy until warm
  9. absolutely no DPF/EGR/DOC/EGR coolers...nada zilch zippo. might even be able to work on this without pulling the cab. huge amount of space around the engine with all that crap off of it. customer complains of coolant leak...actually coolant loss. found cooling system pressure in excess of 30 psi...uh-oh. This is gonna be good
  10. only one way to stop it.......everyone knows, noone will say it
  11. I have a 2002 that has the same damn problem, smokes heavily and misses cold warms up and purrs like a kitten.....perdel pids indicate cylinder 2 & 4 with Positive readings, which to me means the performance loss is on those cylinders. letting it cool down and gonna retest it. Alliant Injectors you say??
  12. found this........seems simple enough to find IF you need a recalibration http://www.finishing.com/137/03.shtml
  13. It really is an awkward tool when they demo'd it to the TRP 2 yrs ago. Have yet had the need to use it
  14. get a fuel sample out of the common rail, you won't get much, perhaps koeo you can get a bit more. then sift it through a coffee filter. metal particles = fuel system overhaul. check HFCM filter. look for FF on the filter. check your mileage..........uh-oh...someone hasn't been doing his maintenance with 1900 hours on the engine. Don't ask me how I know overfilled the crankcase, partially melted 6.....yes 6 pistons and bent a rod. needless to say that repair was a learning experience. Keith...Carl Windiseh says hi!
  15. Love them. fewer problems than any other we sell. I believe this car is a winner The Hybrid will crush the competition
  16. had one, well...still in the shop... with a melted #1 piston, bent #3 rod at least a gallon of engine oil in the CAC. DPF/DOC melted, just the engine repair alone with 3 injectors was over cost cap and hotlines reply was...........let me cut and paste.......... Based on the information provided, this repair will be under the cost cap with the short block, cylinder head and related components. There is no approval needed for repairs that do no exceed the cost cap. Please perform the repairs. it only exceeded it by about $2,000 WTF??!!11
  17. picking up more and more each day.........My truck shop is backlogged whereas my car shop is slower than average, but turning some good hours
