Knock knock. Who's there?
batmantech replied to JSHTech's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Guess what I am doing right now. Your write up is almost the same as the one I am working on now. This 2012 with 20,000 miles came in with concern of, after remote starting at like -15 to -10 deg. F. Started to knock and leaks oil at front seal. I am ready to take the crank out in the morning. With the caps still bolted in I can spin some of the crank bearings around. Lots of metal in the pan too. There is no endplay but tons of play up and down. The balancer pulley wobbled like crazy when running. It ran but missed on #1 and #5 compression was 200 psi on #1 and #5 all rest were 300 psi. Relative comp had #1,#5 6% low. This one has some odd rust like marks inside the cylinder walls also. Thanks for the heads up on the valves Matt! So JSH what did you get approval for? -
03 6.0 broken flywheel question
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Update, Went over multiple options and estimates with customer....teardown and inspection and repair, used engine, drop in, etc. They decided to pull it back to their shop and keep it for a parts truck for the other truck they have. -
03 6.0 broken flywheel question
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
This is a local company. We do all repairs on it. The dowels pins are fine, trans has never been out before. (I have done a 6.4 flexplate only a few years back and I see that truck on the road often) After I installed the new flywheel I ran it without the trans in(reading in another post that it could be done.thanks to you guys and this site for that one) It now has a mean low end knock and a dead hole. Worst part is this owner is a Chevy loving company with only a few Fords. Of course this is a plow, sand spreader and back up trailer puller too. And so the story continues.... -

03 f-350 146,000 miles get towed in with cranks normal wont start. Driver stated sounded like muffler fell off drove few miles and shut off. Realtive comp. even. ICP low 70 psi replaced IPR started right up ran ok old vale had small pieces on the screen and screen was ok. Power balance even but sounded quieter than normal. Started a few times then starter just spun. Found flywheel broken can see in through trans hole. Has a new oil leak at the front seal. Going to check crankshaft endplay.. Question now is if endplay is a lot has anyone just replaced bearings? If only that thrust washer is worn. The thing ran ok and the relative comp was ok.

WOW !! I think you found a fun, new ,better paying career.

Aftermarket is buying them "reconditioning" them and reselling. Ford does not like that.

How does he know what is inside the box? Is he opening the box before you get it? Hmmm maybe you need to start screwing with his head a little....Parts missing from that box....damaged it could happen.

Thanks !! I filled out the info and it says I am eligible for a discount and it will appear in 1-2 billing cycles. . Based on your email address, you could save on Verizon Wireless products and services through the FORD MOTOR COMPANY: DEALERSHIP - EMP employee program, which offers the following discounts: • Up to 20% off the monthly access fee on eligible plans. • Up to 25% off of accessories. We will see. Thanks again!

I read a post from a few years ago...Anyone have any knowledge of recent Verizon wireless discounts for Ford employees? I heard about it on the FoMoCo board a while back also. Something with a code or only certain stores.

6.7 no power after fuel filter change
batmantech posted a topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Just a heads up to all on this. Got this one after another tech put in fuel filters. No power, Low fuel pressure on cluster. Look at the picture and you can see the cover was not completely installed. Hard to see with that metal shield over it. -
4R100 Broken Case
batmantech replied to Keith Browning's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
We had a f-350 break the trans case across the top, Caused by the front shaft u-joint worn and vibrating. -
Well said Keith! Brad...... I'm feeling slow today...murderous?????

Andy you have not offended anyone. Welcome and keep asking questions and help out when you can. I learn more from these good discussions than anything here at the dealership. EGR failures caused by restricted oil coolers do happen, But when repaired they are fine, proper coolant maintenance would be the best thing for this guys new truck.

Working on a 6.2 in a 2011 f-350 it has 187,000 miles and 6,108 hours. Tree cutting business truck, warranty start date is 2 of 2011. Only work has been this a/c compressor that locked up. I thought that was impressive.
