The owner came out today and loaded up the old WDS units. He said they are putting them on E-bay. Seriously are there people that would actually buy them?

labor for replacing all 8 injuector cups
batmantech replied to cheldmann's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
The tools are the same as the ones that you use with head off.ALL CUPS CAN BE REMOVED WITH ENGINE IN PLACE!You take a regular pitman arm puller (the one with the solid two jaws) Remove center bolt-- Find a bolt that threads into the cup removal tap. Put the bolt through the puller and into the tap (that is cut into the cup use a penny to plug the hole), you may have to use some sockets to get a good base for the puller arms Then just turn the bolt to pull up the tap and cup it works very slick. You may find that a nut can be used on the bolt or other slight variations of the set up but thats it. Thanks to Dave from washington state who told me this method, I thought that was pretty nice of him, so I thought I would pass it on to you. -

Got the pump out now. This one has rust in ITP of high pres. pump. Per hotline and prior app. it will get all new fuel system parts. Thanks to all for the disscusion. It helps to talk to others who actually work on these things.
-
Thanks Keith, Have you heard of the high press. pump failing with no debris in the lines?
-
Checking for metal rust in fuel. Pulled the rail no signs of metal or rust. There is rust and metal in the secondary housing but that would just confirm the filter works. I have heard of the pump failing from contamination but has anyone seen the high press. pump just fail?

Wow I feel better now! Jim you are right the reference value in the PE/ED is .5 at 55 psi. That was my first wrong path taken. I did Check fuel press at the schrader vale on the cooler It is 5-6 psi. Checking for no press now. Did glow plug mist test nothing. no leaks on injector return port test. will keep updating thanks so far.

09 6.4 no start, now have p2291 followed ppt. Checking FRP at koeo is 0 psi and .5 volts strange becaues spec at KOEO is .49 v at 55 psi. How can the voltage be correct and press o? Anyone seen this before? Thanks.

I think I know the answer to this(no). Can the small plug on the left front side of the high press pump be replaced if leaking? (This is not the part of the common o-ring service kit)

I know it to late but I too, have to say paper towels from a rad. install. So what the heck is it?

batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
With the help of Michel from TX, I Looked at the stater relay, it had a wire comming out of it, receiver wire. Identity fob emmits a siginal that enables the identity starter relay to work. New relay-- works great! -
F-450 no crank with "identity' key fob?
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It does not crank with the identity fob away from the truck. I will keep looking.... -
..Have a 05 f-440 with intermitent no crank very hard to duplicate. It seems to have a pause when turn key to start. Most time starts somtimes nothing. Checked everything I could think of. Customer just purchased truck and has no clue what this key fob that has "identity" written on it(it has a button and a red light when pressed it changes nothing). Thought it was some sort of security thing but a can not find anything hooked into the wiring. Anyone seen this type of key fob?

My first question is Why are you replacing the head gasket on a 7.3? Just wondering for my future reference. Usaully the oil pan is rusted through along with the other repair so pulling the engine is nessary then away.(i know some people do the pan in the chasis, just my 2 cents)

7.3 blowing collant out degas cap
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Driving with press guage in it the press comes up just after a hard accel. It will go up after the accel to over 16 then cap relaeses press. steady throttle stays even. -
7.3 blowing collant out degas cap
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
no fuel in coolant. The coolant was orange looking I assumed it was from orange coolant being added but maybe that was rust. Coolant was flushed (It has 92,000 miles) -

WHat about injector cups could they be leaking press into cooling system? or AN overheat that is not showing up on the guage just plain pushing out coolant? -
7.3 blowing collant out degas cap
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Yeah it would be the first one I ever heard of also thats why I thought I would bounce this off you guys. Not that there is some other thing I am missing. This guy is not to happy with buying a new trans and now this. -
7.3 blowing collant out degas cap
batmantech replied to batmantech's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
You have to drive it and do heavy accel. The coolant was at the min line last week and now its about 5 inches low there is white film marks around the cap area. if I drive it 1-2 miles and do a few heavy accel then its at the bottom of the de-gas if you remove the cap then it comes back up. -
Have a 03 7.3 that blows coolant out degas cap. I have a programmer installed with p0605 codes. Now trans is burnt up slipping badlots of metal in pan . I am thinking that it needs headgaskets. I have never heard of a 7.3 do this. Has anyone had a 7.3 blow coolant out the cap becaues of head gasket failure. Or could I have other cocerns? I would assume that the programmer overboosting this thing over time is the problem. Any help would be appriciated Thanks
