2002 7.3L - P1211 ICP above/below desired
Ficm replied to Ficm's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
SUCCESS, thank you for your input!!!!! Did some further digging, check base oil pressure within spec, check oil pressure both banks approximately the same, check reservoir screen not restricted OK. Remove HPOP and found pump has spun Hopefully I can attach photos successfully. -
2002 7.3L - P1211 ICP above/below desired
Ficm replied to Ficm's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Update: I've gone ahead and replace ICP sensor and IPR valve. Road tested and verified ICP drop, pulled over and checked oil reservoir OK with no aeration. Overfilled engine with 6L of oil and jacked up back end to check for possible cracked pick up tube. Concern still present.... -
Hey guys, need some help please I've got a 2002 7.3L with manual transmission, sets a check engine light with DTC P1211 when engine is under load. It recently had fuel injectors(FORD reman) and IDM replaced. Here are some of my findings. Monitor pids and found ICP to drop 900psi under load with IPR pinned at 65%. I blocked off cylinder heads to isolate banks, starts on left bank but won't start on right bank. Fuel pressure OK. Dead head HPOP 4000psi.Note cylinder 3 has PERDEL 2.4 slightly high side. Remove RHS valve cover and note INJ 1 dumping oil. Replace injector 1 and recheck same concern present. Any other ideas, thank you for your time. Matthys

I cycled EGR valve, did not hear much of a change. We are behind on preventative maintenance on our equipment, truck got send out to dealer. They reported metal debris in fuel system and HPFP on its way out.

Clear as day now, thank you very much for the screen shots, much appreciated!

Hey Brad, I check FRP KOEO 0.49V. Monitored FRP pid when engine hunts, FRP fluctuates between 3000-5000PSI. I was trying to monitor FRPDES, but it happens so quickly. APP ok.

Thank you for your input Imorris, please bare with me here. After the MAF reading, which other input does PCM use to determine EGR low flow? MAF measures air flow into engine, so in order increase MAF we give more throttle?

Hey guys got a weird one here. I've got a 6.4L with no codes and the following varying symptoms on start up, it will happen for approx. 5 sec and then idle normal - engine hunts/stumbles - crank no start - engine runs very quiet(almost like its running on brake clean) Took for a road test, power delivery seems good. Monitor power balance INJ -15RPM with a +6 SFT. Low fuel pressure 4-5PSI. IDS kicks me out of High Pressure fuel test due to sudden RPM change? Also kick me out of Relative compression test with same message. When engine surges turbo actuator goes back and forth all the time. Has anybody seen anything similar, im think high pressure fuel pump possibly?

I would like to make reference to pinpoint test AZ 11 when diagnosing DTC P0401 EGR low flow. I have difficulty wrapping my head around why MAF increases and how the PCM determines EGR low flow concern. I've read the EGR System monitor in the PC/ED, does anybody have a simpler explanation?

Hate those days! I'll try back probing when I get the truck back one day.

Thank you for your inputs. I performed VD on A-circuit KOEO between unplugged connector at alternator and battery positive as per PPT.

Got a weird one here. Operator complained about I/C and radio shutting off momentarily whilst driving. I drove the truck into my bay and it happened shortly after start up, engine kept running and I could rev it. I scanned for codes and got B1317 Battery voltage high. Perform two pinpoint test which included checking ground connections and voltage drop in A-circuit OG/LB wire. I proceeded to replace alternator. Monitored VBatt pid on start up and noticed charging system momentarily going 15.5V - 18V, when this happened I/C and radio went off. Charging system also hangs out 14.4V seems on little high side. I have also replaced the battery. It seems to happen when engine cold on start up, I could not verify whilst driving. Any ideas on what I am possibly missing?

8WA Sman I have not tried cancelling injectors, will check it out.

mchan68, did the failed horizontal cooler cause a hydrolock? Do you bench test EGR coolers to verify failure or is there another way?

I've got a 6.4L that makes rattling/ticking engine noise when tipping in on acceleration or when free revving engine mostly audible coming off throttle. No codes, Relative compression 1% down on 2 all others zero. Fuel trim +12 cylinder 2 with no drivability issues. It's is a fleet truck with dump box, lots of short trips and idling . The noise sounds like valve train, is it a matter of concern at this point and what have been your findings? I've heard about rocker arm tips failing, could this possibly be a tell tale? Thank you for your input.
