In the second picture, that piece of the hold down is fairly rusted and in the first picture I can see where the injector is too. How many miles are on this truck? I dont think I like the idea of rust being able to buildup between those two components...I wonder how those other injectors look?

Haha, gotta love it. Have you decided if you're going to pull the cab or not?

We had a lot truck that the sales dept. used as the plow truck last year. (They always take a brand new, or very slightly used super duty, always a diesel and use it as the company plow truck for the winter, BUT that's an issue for another topic.) Anyways towards the end of the winter they started loosing heat after throttle tip in. Radiator had a small leak but had lost enough coolant over the winter to cause a concern. Didn't do anything about it, and sold it a few weeks later. I asked if they had it fixed somewhere, because I knew I certainly hadn't. The reply was "Let warranty catch it." I'm sure I'll see it again in who knows what condition.

Ole JR. Everytime I make the trek down there I have him for the instructor. He's a pretty interesting guy, to say the least.

Let us know how much fun that turns out to be.

haha, wow, that is a nice one. How much damage was done to surrounding components?

frozen wheels on hubs

Alrighty. I couldn't really tell if that rod was threaded or not. Sounds, and looks like quite the unit. -

...How exactly does that thing work? -
Hmmm. This bad boy is a 2003. As you know, just about everything is different. So, I don't know if it's really worth it to pull the HPOP just to have the oil drain down, because I'm assuming that the STC fitting is not a problem for this model year. Correct? I might just suction it out in good shape.

Alrighty. It's been a little while, but I'm finally getting around to doing this cooler. Actually, winter is finally over and the customer finally decided to take his plow off and let me do it. Anyhow. All disassembled, and just a few questions, because this so happens to be my first cooler replacement. Is there anyway to drain the oil back into the pan? Or is suctioning it out the only way? Also, the screen is blown out in one panel. From what I've read this seems to be common. Found some minor debris present in it. When you guys come across this what do you recommend? Don't worry about it and just put the new screen in, pull the IPR for inspection?

Haha. Some people really make you question the limits of stupidity. After that stunt I'd be willing to say he might have bought himself a pair of axles and bearings. Maybe even a housing if shit really hit the fan.

The Mustang with it's differential torn apart and sitting in my bay, might as well be a bicycle with a flat tire when you stack it up against the work in that picture.

I'm pretty sure my shop was built with lead walls reinforced with straw. The lead keeps out all the good music and the straw allows only country to come in. The only station we can obtain on our stereo is country music, and unfortunately thats all we listen too. The same 20 songs 5 times a day. I do have Sirius and Rhapsody subscriptions, but no speakers connected to the computers, and none to be found anywheres in the dealer. And I havent gotten around to buying my own yet. Money has other places to be used.

It must have been released today. I was working on a 2012 Focus with some odd codes stored in the PCM. Anyways, hotline told me to update IDS to 72.03 which was just released today. It didn't have any calibrations for me. But it probably has the one you need. If you haven't already been informed of it's availability.

That really is the icing on the cake.

I took out the fuel pump fuse and relay and rolled the truck out. He came by at lunch all in an uproar. I told him once it was hooked to a tow truck he could have the relay and fuse back. We ended up calming him down, and we've got some parts ordered. I wondered what I should do if he just got another fuse and relay and took the truck anyways. I probably would have called local PD and started there. But luckily it didn't come to that.

I did an oil pan on this truck about two weeks ago. This thing is a major rust bucket, and had oil leaks everywhere. I actually replaced the oil pan, ICP, a couple high pressure oil fittings and the rear main seal. During this service I had trans lines break, I had the starter B+ break off at the connection due to corrosion, and the terminals on the starter break. Anyways, I took care of all the issues as they presented themselves. When I finished I found that the fuel supply and return lines were rotted through, and were now leaking at the quick connects on the engine side of the braided steel lines. The customer is an engineer for some factory around here, and he seemed pretty hands on. He said the only reason he brought the truck here was because he didn't have the equipment to do the pan himself. Fine. He said he would do the fuel lines himself. By this time I was ready to see this thing gone, and the lines werent leaking terrible, so I let it go. Now he's back and said he thinks he has an oil leak again. Well those fuel lines were never fixed, and his FEAD belt became soaked and slipped and came tearing off, and somehow came up and broke the fuel return line off at the regulator housing (or so he says, for all I know he broke the line trying to repair it himself, but there is a new belt on so..). That much he told me, but he wasn't too concerned about it, he just wanted the oil leaks rechecked. I found the return line held in place with duct tape, and about 3/4 of gallon of fuel present in the valley. Everything is soaked in fuel on this thing, turbo, up-pipes, down pipe, the fuel is even starting to creep past the hood and onto the windshield cowl. He doesn't want anything done, and says he has his parts already ordered...just like he was going to fix those fuel lines "right off quick"...two weeks ago! If I put this thing outside I know he'll just drive it home, like he just drove it here. It leaves a trail of fuel where ever it goes. So what do you guys think, would it be wrong for me to disable this pig...maybe take out the IDM and lock it in box? And by the way, there are two car seats in back.

Yep, it does. Thanks.

What a painful process that is. I've done several, and never had one go through the first time without issue.

This is something that's made me wonder. By monitoring, do you mean they probably visit the main site, read the tech articles and such? Or are they part of the forum. Because I know when I signed up, there was the notice about only dealer personnel being allowed onto the forums. And I had to put in my dealer name, number and maybe the P/A code too, I can't quite remember. I guess my question is are people other than dealer service department personnel, allowed on the forums? Or are there Ford reps just spooking around in the shadows reading all the topics and taking notes. Lol, I hope I haven't crossed any lines, it's just something I've been curious about.

Had one just last week. Walking slightly crouched beneath the truck on my lift, I was headed to my box. I stood up in front when I thought I was clear... I wasn't. I stood up directly into the sharpest, rustiest set of plow push plates ever. When I checked to see how bad the bump was, my hand came back very bloody. One trip to the ER, two staples, one tetanus shot and one wasted afternoon.

I guess I joined that club. Had one die on me first thing yesterday morning. "Yeah we'll bring that right in. It's just a repgrogram for your computer. Take about 20 minutes and you'll be on your way." 2 hours, a bunch of "testman errors", multiple IDS sessions, and several phone calls later, a new TCM is on its way. I wonder what it is about this reprogram that is shorting these things out? Becuase from what I can tell, it seems to be a fairly common occurance. Common enough that the second page of the Techincal Info section in the FSA is how to restore a blank module. Which didn't help me one bit anyways.

Check coolant addative....
JSHTech replied to Jim Warman's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I had one with the "check coolant additive" message. We have the 328-00001 test kit at our other dealer, but we don't at my shop, and niether shops have the newer kit. I'm going to have my manager order some, but I was wondering, does the 328-00008 include the same test strips as the older kit, along with the new test strips? Or will I need both kits?
