  1. that was another thought I had about the pump as well. have seen the like on an 03 with a broken pump. but I tend to think this is not the case. going back to ebp if its a circuit issue it may show the same behavior pattern as the icp. I have never seen a stand pipe do anymore then leak from an o-ring myself too but the info made it in to a tsb at one time. second post covers some basic stuff to try for injector testing.
  2. were is the ipr sitting at hot idle. the scary thing here is that the icp maybe correct. also a late my truck will run fine at with a vref issue... pull up ebp and watch that too. see if there both acting the same.
  3. there was a tsb that contained some info on this sometime back iirc it was the original fuel in coolant one. I always thought it was a little out of place. anyway on to the point. 3-4k rpm run up vibration ford claimed was a possible ipr issue. in the 1500 band they stated possible stand pipe. i would look at the connector for icp and see if you have any really bent wires. if so replace the hardshell. a few other things you can try is swiching to a 5-40 syn oil or a 10-30 depending oin your local weather. Also being you are a tech Ill throw this out there and you can use your own judment. take about 2-3 cups of diesel fuel and poor delute the engine oil. drive for about 50/100 miles and change the oil again to remove most of the delution. the fuel acts as a solvent and may reduce spool valve latching. this is one of those cases were more fuel mixed in wont be better. also disconnect the gpcm and see if the issue gets worse. if it does suspect latching as a possibel concern. from there plug in the block heater for a few hours and see if the issue is better. if so once again then possible latching issue. to try to isolate the concern to what injector use the inhanced inject sheet in the pc/ed that uses the pids for masfuel. you know the one we should be using when replacing injectors anyway.
  4. had an fse in my stall to day and we were talking about this. per him the current rumor on the cause is thermocycling from the amount of egr flow used in the 450/550 causing the valve to crack and break.
  5. last one I saw I told the advisor ... Looks like an A/C concern to me... go give it to the guy that does that.
  6. gonna have to do a flush with vc9 after replacement. contact tech support and ask point blank " do I do a flush with repair after replaing the oil cooler" there standard reply has been yes per the wsm section ...... I do this to insure I get paid because nowere in the wsm does it say to do so
  7. a thing to note about p012f its not really what it seems to be from the pinpoint test.. I have been bit in the ass by this code one time and learnd a bunch. its a code that is produed by low flow to the cooler, and not always going to be a cooler issue. I have had a front cover cause this code. the cavation was bad enugh to bypass flow around the water pump causing redued flow durring long drives causing the delta to spread. O ya and Josh is pretty much right on the money for beating the repair time to death. get a bluepoint 10mm striped bolt socket too. the snap-one one is differnet and sucks ass.
  8. If they make it back in to your stall check the adjustment on the wastgate rod. you maybe able to play with it a little bit and "fix" the issue. there is a knowen issue that the latist recal fixes about 95% of the time. so you may be able to slow the fast truck down.
  9. read something about leaving the front 2 cab bolts in and just lifting the back of the cab now. any try that. I have been lifting the front up 4" and have had a lot of luck.
  10. I think its worse. try finding out were to put engine noise at. f me more crap.
  11. just an fyi you can pull all 4 cab bolts on the right side and tilt the cab up from the side and disconnect less shit. motors will also come out the front with a cab tilted back. you can pull them complete with the fan on.
  12. just got done with the same failer. broken #3 glowplug. metal transfer to both sides. replaced long block, #3 glowplug and injector.
  13. no qualified tech here either. its the same crew that goes from shop to shop to get a raise. We have one local store that outs adds on craigslist now looking for diesel techs. sad thing about that place its a really nice shop, the management blows.
