  1. Speaking of cold my 2010 f350s vacuum hubs dont work below -20 F. I just turn them to manual lock when its that cold.
  2. I am in MN. I think we warmedup to 4 degrees F today.
  3. I have a 6.4 coffee table book. Was more intereted in seeing the differences.
  4. Wow, I didnt realize that. Makes sense though.
  5. I think the pin lock is mechanical. Pin is locked by spring pressure and the pcm commands oil pressure to unlock pin then adjust timing as needed. I also think that if oil pressure gets low it cant get them neutral
  6. Found this at the end of the 5.4 3v job aid Camshaft Phaser Function and Operation: • Phasers enable camshafts to advance and retard relative to the crankshaft. • Engine oil pressure is delivered by solenoids to the phasers to advance and retard camshaft timing. • Phaser pins lock the phaser at base timing when engine is idling (read as 0 degrees when viewing PID). Oil pressure unlocks the pins when engine speed is increased. Spring pressure locks the pin when engine returns to idle and phaser returns to base timing
  7. Don't know when the truck is coming in but parts have arrived. I would be interested in seeing a maxforce coffee table book.
  8. Off subject but how do you save a screen shot? I have printed screen shots but not been able to save.
  9. Do any input pids do anything at the same time? What happens when the vcv is commanded at a steady 50%?
  10. Interesting Could you get a picture of that installed? I haven't put a wedge in for years. When I have any concerns with wiring I have been replacing the uvc and gasket.
  11. I had changed oil and fuel filters on this truck also. It looks like the bed plate is leaking on it also.
  12. No, I just told them what it needed. I have not heard if we are going to do it or if they are taking it back to the medium duty shop. I heard they are not real happy with were they had been going.
  13. Definately check that hot oil pressure. At work we wont do any 5.4 3v repairs unless we have good hot oil psi.
  14. Check this out. On January 26, 2015, the verbiage to the Parts Coverage Tool (PCT) in OASIS was changed to "may be covered". Because this caused dealer confusion, we are changing the verbiage back to "IS COVERED".
  15. I had a durastar come in this week with turbo noise. Just like the 6.4 in pickups the noise is from the rh exhaust manifold gasket blown out. None of the bolts are broke yet. The manifold looks tighter to the frame then in a pickup. Any of you done a rh manifold and have advise on giving an estimate?
  16. Before the updated blue spring replacing the regulator spring would not gain any pressure with out stretching.Did you notice the blue spring is longer and a heavier spring?
  17. Course Code:51RNDTBL. Course Title:6.0L Diesel Roundtable Description:The content of this Roundtable is designed to provide a disciplined approach to 6.0L Diesel Engine driveability diagnosis. .Delivery Method:Classroom
  18. I started stretching fuel pressure springs after going to that 1 day classroom class. I think it was called 6.0 diesel roundtable. Do any of you remember that class?
  19. When the blue spring came out I had compared the blue spring to my stretched spring and it was the same length.
  20. Do any of you guys remember removing the fuel pressure regulator and stretching the spring to get fuel pressure up. I had done it on alot of them before the blue spring kit came out.
  21. Sorry my picture sucks (I need a new phone). I drain the trans before pulling out and when I pull the pan off to take the main control off it doesnt lose to much fluid. I put a catch pan under and actually dont end up with much of a mess.
  22. Gary I have had those torqueshift 6 leaking from the front. I have had a couple leaking from torque converter welds. I always pressure test the converters. The rest I have replaced front pump gakets and torque converter seals. None have been back leaking. I put the first torqueshift 6 on the big stand and used the engine hoist to take apart but that takes to long so I quit doing that. If I am doing just a torque converter and seal I just leave the trans on the trans jack and pull them out. They are heavy but I can get it done no problems. If I am doing the front pump seal I use the fork lift set the trans/t-case on the ground then I lift by the belhousing end picking up with fork lift and rachet strap to the hoist using blocks of wood underneath. I have done this on probably half a dozen of them. It works really good for me.
  23. Mine is deffinately engine oil leaking. I informed customer but they cant be down with it right now and will keep an eye on it.
  24. Gary what did you find? I have one same thing wet bottom of belhousing dry up top. I haven't pulled trans yet.
